What is DMA?
What is sync transfer?
What are all the options meaning?

Sometimes I have to set it to no read ahead to install stuff. Why?

Will provide an Screen Shot tonight I hope.

Help is appreciated.

Read ahead is for cacheing large amounts of data (videos in games) but should only really be used if your pc has a good amount of ram if this is not the case then you should disable read ahead, the symptons of this are mainly stutering in video clips within games.
Not sure why win2000 would need it though?

so, AMD Man, does that mean I should enable DMA?
I have an Artec 48x12x48 CDRW on a Gigabyte kt400 motherboard.

Should I enable sync?

DMA (DIRECT MEMORY ACCESS)is a device that allows data to go straight to the memory without having to pass through the processor thus speeding things up.

Sync transfer, Im not entirely sure what this means i think it has something to do with having to modifiable chunks of data in differant places thus also speeding things up.
