In this month's edition of PSM2 magazine it has a preview of the next in the long and loved series of Resident Evil. It is called Resident Evil: Online so for the first time a survival-horror game can be played online using the PS2 Network Adapter. This game is supposedly so good a game that people say it is the reason to make everyone buy the adapter for online gaming.

As in the previous Resident Evils the game is set once again in the worst place in the world 'Raccoon City' (a city with a definite graveyard problem! Why would people still go back to live there after the previous games? Dumb!). The game will take characters through whole new parts of Raccoon City such as the Underground tunnels, Subway trains, Hospital corridors and woodland areas. The game will be split into several different chapters which each contain their own stories within them.

So how can this be played online? I hear you ask. Well you group together in fours and each choose a character out of the eight characters given. To complete chapters you have to learn to co-opperate with each other. The most disappointing thing about this game is that the microphone headsets are not compatible so to talk to your teammates you have to choose from a list of pre-set phrases. A thing that will upset some people but I think this won't really matter too much.

The available characters: In this game the characters are just ordinary people from the local community like you and I which is change from having to play as police men/women in the previous Resident Evils.
The characters are:

-KEVIN- A member of the Raccoon City police department who failed to appear in other Resident Evils as he kept on failing his entrance exam.
-GEORGE- A docter at Raccoon City Hospital, could be useful in the hospital-based chapters.
-YOKO- A young Japanese woman who may have something to hide.
-CINDY- A waitress in a local bar. Maybe she isn't that useful to your team.
-JIM- A railway worker and a lover of puzzles, could come in very handy indeed.
-ALYSSA- A reporter who is always looking for an arguement.
-MARK- Vietnam War veteran, handy with firearms and working as a security guard.
-DAVID- A plumber who only says something that needs saying.

So onto the weapons. There will be pistols, shotguns, lead pipes, axes and even broom handles! Anything that is lying around can probably be picked up and used to defend yourself with and to help save ammo for more aggresive enemies such as Hunters, a creature with huge claws and teeth. Oh the horror! The horror! How you react to certain elements of the game with affect your end result so you have to look out for each and everyone of your teammates (even if it is someone you really hate!-good job you don't have to talk to them then isn't it!)

If someone on your team gets eaten by the brain-dead creatures, that's it for the rest of that chapter and they turn into a non-controllable member of the living dead. At the start your four characters start out in different locations around Raccoon City and finally meet up at the specific point on the map. You can even betray your fellow teammates but you will be more prone to enemies as less fire power will be pumped into them. If you run out of bullets, your teammates are able to lend ammo to you, if they like you that is!

This game is going to be huge and will change the face of Raccoon City forever! What do you think it will be like? Will you buy it? Please tell me! BRING ON THE ZOMBIES!!!

Thanks for reading!

P.S- A release date for this game is uncertain.
- If you are interrested in this game then I would reccommend buying this month's edition of PSM2 as it has a preview of it on the DVD and details in the magazine.
