The "Nintendo Games" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
Consider the following factors which may aid Nintendo to victory in the coming struggle against the PS2 and Xbox:
-The abandoning of cartridge based console in favour of proprietary DVDs.
-The PS2s more complex arcitecture making it more difficult to develop for.
-Nintendo's many franchise titles set to appear on GameCube, such as Mario, Zelda, Metroid and Starfox.
-Sega's backing out of the console market, and Sonic Team favouring the GameCube.
-Nintendos new 'Short and Sweet' policy on (at least some) of their new GameCube titles.
-Nintendos much more third party friendly approach this time round.
Now, for the perfect console war topic, centered around Nintendo:
Part 1) Choose any ONE of the reasons from the list, and explain how it may help Nintendo beat the opposition.
Part 2) By reference to the list, explain how each of these will aid Nintendo in the long term and/or short term.
Part 3) Explain whether any one of the factors will be more important than the others in determining how successful Nintendo will be in the upcoming struggle, and if any factors are interlinked.
And if anyone completes a homework (unlikely) then I will grade it if I can be bothered, and if you haven't given it to me by next Sunday, then I want a letter from your parents explaining why! (no 'my dog ate it' rubbish!)
;-)
Oh, but hopefully the Short and Sweet policy won't be implemented on Zelda/ Mario, and is just for these early games.
Despite cartoony graphics, Nintendo games always had good depth, lastability and challenge which left them much harder and laster longer than the "grown-up" games like Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil.
If Nintendo lose this depth, then even their fans will begin to think that their games are for little kids.

I will be phoning your parents shortly...

1)Nintendo need to do more advitising...go over to www.nintendo.com to see the American advert.
2)Nintendo need to take a lead off Sony and Microsoft.
And the rest...my dad ate it!

yeah, Don't take History GCSE... EVER!!!
:)
That Sega sponsorship didn't really help them though did it?
Plus Nintendo did some quite clever ads to promote the Gamecube in the US. Perhaps they'll do the same for the UK release!
Lets hope so.
Oh and fair enough the Dreamcast didn't sell everyone but how many people know that Dreamcast were the sponsors of Aresnal? I'd say all gamers knew that and most of the none gameing enthusiasts in this world knew. Nintendo need to do more big advertising in my opinion.
Still Nintendo will always dominante the gaming world. Always.
