I am of course talking about Grand Theft Auto 3, the most diabolical game to hit the shelves in a long while. The only game I can think that rivals it's unacceptability is Grand Theft Auto 2 and before that Grand Theft Auto 1.
I confess, I did buy it. I was attracted by the reviews and the positive comments made by people who had purchased it. But it was the biggest mistake I think I have ever made (except for when I took off all my clothes and ran into the local shop shouting 'I need peanut butter!'.....but that's a long story and this is neither the time nor the place). As I was saying, I did buy the game but after 10 minutes of play I was physically sick. How can this game have gotten past the censors?!
You are given money for causing the most chaos and destruction as possible! You are given a vast array of weapons to do so! The AK-47 was pushing it, the M16 may have gone too far but the Sniper Rifle is just downright ridiculous. I mean do they honestly think that us 'normal' people will find it amusing to zoom in on a poor innocent person's head and pull the trigger? If they do, I am truly sickened!
And then there is the actual graphic level of violence. It's bad enough as it is, but they have included a 'gore' cheat. A gore cheat of all things! Arms being ripped off! Heads flying up in the air! Blood gushing from open wounds! This is stepping beyond the line. This really is going one step too far. I hope they are put in jail for this outrage! No developer should get away with the things that have been included in this game.
This game can only be classed as an 'anti-rehabilitation' object. It should be banned immediately. It's rated 18 for a reason? IT'S RATED 18 FOR A REASON!?!?! This is sick! An 18 year old would probably be crying for his mummy after a few hours of play. Whether he'd be beyond help is unknown but there'd certainly be lasting side effects!
Thank God that people can't just own guns in this country. God Help America I can tell you that right now! This is gonna have some serious effect on their society. I can see the news head lines right now - "Man ran over repeatedly whilst criminal re-enacts gaming moment".
And I am furious with Michael Madsen. Joe Pantoliano doesn't know any better but Michael Madsen! How can he have agreed to do the voice of a gangster in this outrage of a game?! Has he gone mad?
*remembers Free Willy*
Okay scrap that!
This is the sickest, most revolting, most disturbingly grotesque game I have ever had the pleasure of playing. Pleasure? Did I say pleasure?! You see, it's effected me already. BAN IT! BAN IT NOW!

An unusual reviewing technique I admit and I didn't actually realise it was a review until I had finished but if that doesn't persuade people to buy the game, I don't know what will.
Rewarding you to drive on the pavement, mowing down civilians. Heh heh.
Can't open the door.
What so bad about rolling a big pile of plygons over a smaller pile of polygons resulting in little red polygons emerging.
I mean I enjoy reversing over a pedestrian's limp body just as much as the next man but what you're saying here, 'is it some sort of reference to me not being married because if it is I will ram your f***ing head through the wall!' :-D
A journalist in a local rag somewhere, obviously wanting to join the Daily Mail at some point, ran the headline "Ban Death Game". Okay, nothing strange or interesting there. But this guy was called Steve Pope. Clifford had the stroke of genius of realising the implications of the man's name and he famously launched the "Pope says 'Ban Death Game' - GTA out now" Ad campaign.
It was brilliant.
And it made the Daily Mail have the newspaper equivalent of a tantrum.
Just an interesting piece of GTA trivia.

Do you know if I could get an import copy? ;-)
If I'd been lazy like everyone else you would be dead by now :/. I was reving up a car engine and preparing to run you over several times.
Whoever said gaming makes you copy it is an idiot. Who on Earth copies what they see in a game........

Errrrrm.......I was joking. I hope you are too. :-D
GTA3 is damn good. How can you not see the funny side of slamming your car into an innocent bystander? Running over a cop and then reversing? Zooming in as far as you can with the sniper rifle and then taking off someone's head?
Classic gaming moments. The happy memories I'll remember when I'm an old man. :-D
