It’s been one whole year since Pop Idol. Unbelievable I know, but you have to admit, it was good entertainment. Seeing Gareth Gates stutter and struggle for words, And those “Is he gay?” questions you were just gasping to throw at the spiky haired pop prince. As we all know, Pop does suffer from excessive marketing and merchandise, God help us when we eventually see “Craig David’s ‘choose ya flava’ condoms”. Anyway back to the point, Most pop is just a cash in and nothing else, I won’t be surprised when more pop winds its way into the games industry, I hope we never see the light of day for this game…

“Gareth Gates: S.s..s…s….plinter Cell” Calm yourself ladies! Gareth Gates is coming to a console near you very soon! You’ll be pleased to hear that the main man himself is the main star and there’ll be a few surprises in store, according to the fresh new developer “ITV-Soft”. Here, Us lucky folks got to have a chat with the company, who gave us some rather interesting details: -

GF: So, Let’s get down to business, What inspired you to make this game?
ITVSoft : Well, seeing as we are a new developer, We need a game with a license that’ll sell well, ‘get a stake’ lets say.. Oh, and we like Gareth.

GF: Oh, I see. Well, erm what’s the game about, what are the main features that we can expect to look forward to?
ITVSoft: The main story is this, You play the role of Gareth himself, who has a problem. He cannot figure out why he didn’t win Pop Idol and fears the voting may have been rigged, as he is the best. So you are sent back in time to pick up evidence on why you didn’t win. Using stealth tactics, that’s your mission.

Features include: -

- “Hair Gel” power-ups, You have to keep your hair freshly gelled at all costs to allow Gareth to lubricate himself through all types of cracks and gaps throughout the Pop Idol studios.
- Loads of manoeuvres and distractions to prevent detection, including the High Pitched squeal distraction, Gareth’s voice hasn’t broken yet which allows him to squeal at such a high frequency it can temporarily deafen guards and personnel. Gareth can even use his perfectly spiked hair to attack, Only when cornered!
- A whole manor of gadgets and weapons at your disposal, including the “Exploding Gareth Doll” usually used to distract the ladies.
- Appearances from major persons involved in the series, including the infamous Simon Cowell.
- Sub missions are included. We’ve pencilled the “Am I gay” sub quest down for inclusion, It involves Will Young and Hair Gel.

GF – Erm, Sounds great….
ITVSoft – We have to go now, Gareth is coming for voice-overs, May take some time.
