Both me and my sister have a GAD Prize 3 to claim (My sister is a one hit wonder that goes by the name of Kat Mac). What the hell do we get?

At present, my families DVD collection consists of: American History X, Blazing Saddles, Romeo Must Die, Shawshank, Pearl Harbor, Private Ryan, Fight Club, Shrek, and Hackers. Seven + Austin Powers 2 should be in the post about now.

So, I leave it to you good people to decide the two that we get. I'm considering Battle Royale...

You can always claim for a film out soon, Moulin Rouge is a good example. Excellent film if you watch it with tongue firmly in cheek. Also Stargate is a good film.

All quality films. I did a review of gilfight a couple of months back that should be on the GAD winners list if you want an in depth review of the film. Memento is a great film but stuck with the literally pathetic distributors Pathé, whose DVD's never have extras or sensible release dates. Battle Royale looks like it will rock, and I'm pretty sure that the director also directed "Brother" which rocked. Requiem is a brilliant, brilliant film. SR will only stock it if this forum raves about it for a few months though. Hell, it worked with Mallrats, why shouldn't it work with Requiem.

Memento - I remember seeing a trailer for this on some obscure video somewhere - I've wanted to see it for ages. It has an audio commentery, which is about the only extra I ever look for, so this one is a definate.

Girlfight - Sounds interesting

Battle Royale - Sounds very interesting. This would be good for making me look like I know a helluva lot about films. Japanese...subtitles...obscure...excellent. Not many extras though, as you'd expect.

Mallrats - I would do, but I can pick it up for a tenner elsewhere.

Me, Myself And Irene - Didn't like it.

American Beauty - The first film I thought of when I won. SR dont stock it.

Transformers the movie - Pfffffhhht

Tarzan - Already have Shrek, thats my yearly quota of kiddies films done already.

Independence Day - Was considering this.

Star Wars Episode 1 - Havn't actually seen it yet. Don't feel a particuler urge to either.

Lord of the Rings (animated) - Nope.

Terminator/Terminator 2 - T2 does have a very nice case...but these just dont appeal to me really.

Cast Away - As above

Traffic - Could get for £8

Gladiator - Have the VCD.

The Green Mile - Seen the film, and if there is no extras then I aint getting it.

Cheers for the suggestions people...I'll be getting Memento, and I think i'll wait for SR to stock American Pie 2, American Beauty, or Requiem For A Dream. Or perhaps i'll get Battle Royale. Hell, I've got three months.

Ooooh.. and another one I forgot to mention! The Green Mile is a bloody excellent film but it's not a great DVD (only one feature).

Well it all depends on your taste in films, but three or four relatively recent releases I would go for are:

- Cast Away
- Star Wars: The Phantom Menance
- Terminator 2: Ultimate Edition
- Transformers The Movie
- Traffic
- Gladiator

..whoops that's more then four :-)

American Beauty, fantastic movie and the documentary on the making of the film is fine.

Transformers the movie - just because.

Tarzan - because sometimes you need a little Disney, and this is one of the best.

Independence Day - the 2 disc pack is stunning and the 5.1 version of the film just blows you away.

Star Wars Episode 1 - Go on, you know you really want to see it again for the good bits. The other disc is well worth getting it for anyway.

Lord of the Rings (animated) - Mixed reviews, but I like it.

Terminator/Terminator 2 - two of the best DVD sets around for extras, and fine films to boot.
