OK, what with the Xmas hols and all that, I've been watching far too much Sky. Which has led me to start getting interested in the old American Football again. But I still cannot figure them out, can someone explain, please?!?!
No quite, There are two conferences AFC and NFC each with three divisions. The top team in each division and the 3 teams with the best win-loss record qualify for the play offs. The two division winners with the best records in each conference have a bye to the next round and the other 4 play off and so on until a conference champion is found. The two conference champions meet in the Super Bowl.
theres different divisons the AFC and NFC i think may be wrong. anyway the top 3 (i think) teams from each division get into the playoff and there's 2 wildcard places for a team in each league. then those 8 teams get drawn to play each other like any normal cup competition until there's a winner.

Probably should have mentioned that I was referring to the playoff system, who gets chosen and all that. I don't know, must be old age!
