This is probably quite a minor issue compared to the usual 'Graphics Vs Gameplay' jargon that's spouted out every-so-often, but personalization is still a factor in games.

The problem is, is that the whole topic, although quite minor, is so vast - so covering everything might not be something I achieve...

Still, here we go!

I've always enjoyed being able to make me in games. When I was knee-high, I would see Mario and always wanted to give him my name, or another name I wanted him to have. A feature still unavailable to date... same with Sonic.

I think being able to add personal touches can add quite a number of 'things' to the game, the first to mind is basically the appearance... you have the character how you want it, like in an RPG, but moreso. Also you can give the character the name you want, the moves you want, the speed, skill and other statistics you want. The wrestling attributes and clothes you want. The options, if put in a game, could really lift the uniqueness of the game.

Textures on user-created models making out gang logos and names could be applied... Even to cars as a symbol of alliegence, or on army vehicles.

I suppose the Create-A-Wrestler idea is the best example of personalization. You can make your 'guy' as cool, or as stupid as you want... he can bear the name of whoever you want, look as much like you as possible. I think it's like the icing on the cake for a lot of games... not Create-a-Wrestler, but personalization in general... it lets gamers add their touches to characters... in the same way Pokemon trainers customise their Pokemon.... kind of.. :)

Future-wise, I think there'll be quite a lot of personalization options in future games. With people just about getting the hang of the more complex PS2 coding options and companies like EAD and Rare almost mastering GameCube right from the outset, things are definitely going to get personal!!

From a personal standpoint, i'd like to see my sisters face in Perfect Dark II... so I can shoot her, My name as one of the mafia guys in GTA4 and being able to change the colour of Jak's eyebrows in Jak and Daxter 2: Jak's Stupid Green Eyebrows!

What would you like to see?!

What about recording your voice into a game? THAT would be interesting.

Id like to have the option that was going to be in Perfect drak where you take a picture using the GB camera then put it on a character.

Im fine with the CAW option in wrestling games.

In some games like mario I dont want to have my name instead of mario, but in games like Zelda I prefer to use Joe. In RPGs I dont want to create my own character, I like to play as the games character.

that may sound a bit weird

I think the best thing would be to have the faces of whoever you're playing ONLINE to be in the game. That way I can hunt down the little scroat that was camping behind those boxes 2 days ago...
