How can you, in all fairness square the consoles up to each other fairly. You can't really go by Tech-Specs, because the consoles were released at diffent times. You can't go by looks, because if you applied that to everthing in life, everybody would be driving crap cars like Tigras instead of Golf V5's. And you can't go by the games, because most of the games you 'fight' with are exclusives and can't be compared to the same game on another format.
All this Versus banter is quite pointless. Granted, it's quite entertaining when Newbie #1 tries to woo the Regulars and Notables by 'dissing' Newbie #2 because they've got a 2 1/2 year old PS2 compared his new PDO Limited Edition White XBOX. But in all fairness to Newbie #2, Newbie #1 can't play Pro Evo 2 on his XBOX, no matter how many black squiggles it has on it.
I suppose, if you think about it.. all the banter is purely for entertainment, and any effort at writing, or collection of opinions to determine the perfect 'Console 1 Vs Console 2' no matter how concerted, will surely fail to take in to account every single area of the 'Battle'
Sound complicated? Yeah... that's why no-one will ever write a topic that covers all areas. You'd need to include, Tech-Specs compared to the average at the time. Games, Abilities for Graphics, Sound, Speed, Rendering, Texturing and Mapping. The percentage of the games library aimed at which audience. The Percentage rating for the games in that library taken from 10 magazines dedicated to that format. To find the Mode, Median and the Mean averages of all those games ratings. The hours of GamePlay in each game, and the averages for that. The Percentages of games in the library that are multi-format...

So the next time you write a 'Vs' topic, in the interests of the sainity of the staff and members of the SR community, at least write something completely bias, with lots of humour, rather than trying really hard and posting a fall-short article that doesn't even cover half of what it should.
