High Concept:-

3D arcade space simulation in which the player destroys asteroids, and collects valuable minerals and ores from the remnants to sell and upgrade his/her ship.

A friend and I are looking to program a (reasonably simple) game together and we thought you good people may be able to offer some feedback and guidance as to what you think of our project. Where you think we're going wrong etc etc.

The game will be in full 3d and will draw inspiration from other games such as privateer, x-wing, elite and asteroids.

The object of the game is to fly your ship through a field of asteroids, and destroy them in order to collect and harvest the contents. Once you land again you can seel your harvest and use the extra cash to upgrade your ships weapons system, engine, etc or even buy an entirely new ship.

What do you think?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Later on we'll have a website where we'll post developments, and if we finish it and it's good enough we'll make it available to you all :)

At this stage I can almost totally guarantee that you won't be able to play it over a network. We'll try to keep the option open, but there's plenty on the plate at the moment.

Right now there are no enemy ships involved, so the next vastly large change will be to write in other ships and some sort of AI, but that's a long way coming yet.

Ok, ok. I didn't read it properly. Elite was wireframe though.

Ideas?

Make it a version you can play on the web with an almost infinite datebase of stars - some sort of random generating thing. not sure how you're going to do that though.
