One of the reasons that the PSX was so popular compared to any other machine that it was easy to pirate the CD-Format. All you needed was a friend with a cd-writer, a mod chip or a smartcard/cheatcartridge and a shut mouth and you could have the good PSX games for £2 or £3 a piece. If Sony knew this would happen or not, it was one of the reasons that the console sold over 75 million units world wide and it is already possible with the PS2 with the first wave of games on CD and a mod chip available. It will be a couple of years before DVD-RAM'S are easily available and a smart guy will find out how to pirate them too. This is why the X-Box and PS2 will reign supreme by using commonly used formats that can be easily pirated but as in my previous views, both the consoles will appeal to two different types of gamers. The PC-Gamer for the X-Box and the PS2 for the Console gamer and the Sony loyal.
