He has requested to leave West Ham but the only offer recieved has been from Sunderland. The highest amount they offered was £10m. This was turned down as West Ham said it was 'un-acceptable' as they valued him at AT LEAST £15m pounds! Can you blame them?? Why would you want to lose one of your star players? And if you were to let him go then you should get a VERY good price for him. He only cost West Ham something like £2m, so getting £15m would be a brilliant bit of business!! Rio Ferdinand is one of the greatest players ever produced from their youth academy, and they got £18m for him!! There obviously trying to do the same again with Sinclair's sale, unless of course they can persuade him to stay!
But where would he go?? He obviously needs to be at a big club with a ambition. One of the teams challenging for the league or European honours, like Liverpool, Man United, Newcastle, Arsenal, Leeds or Spurs would be right for him. But the only problem is who would actually need him in thei squad?? He prefers, and plays his best, down the right wing. He can also play down the left or as a wingback, but does prefer the right-hand side.
I think that leeds would be the ideal club for him. To be honest, they don't have a 'natural' right-sided midfielder. You usually find that they have Lee Bowyer or Eirik Bakke playin there, but they are more central based players, with no great experience for playing out wide. Jacob Burns can play wide-right, but he's still young, in-experienced for big competitions, and as an Australian is still trying to adjust to the English game. He's also only made a handfull of appearences for Leeds with this as only his second season at Elland Road.
What they do need to improve the attacking side of their midfield is a right-sided Harry Kewell, but not neccissarily Australian. Sinclair is a simialr player to Kewell in many ways. They can both run at and beat defenders quite easily, both can score goals, also in spectacular styles, aswell as being left out wide they are used to the positions of a centre-forward, so they know how to score goals and work well with strikers, and they're both rated highly, with £15m as the minimum value! Leeds have what Sinclair needs. The offer of first team football, a position in Europe, great ambition, and they've also been named as potential contenders for the title this season! Especially after Man United slipping up, Fowler's signing and their great start to the season.
The other alternative for Trevor Sinclair is to sign for Arsenal if he doesn't want to stay at Upton Park. He'd have a similar situation as at Leeds but with more foreigners (which can help improve him), an even greater ambition, and he'd probably be replacing Ray Parlour, also pushing Ljungberg back into his central-midfield role. But then Parlour would want to leave and some Arsenal fans may become unhappy. And Ljungberg may not like playing cenrally any more, so he'd become un-settled!
In my view, the best move for Trevor Sinclair would be to join Leeds United. Or possibly to stay where he is at West Ham, remain loyal to his club and help them achieve something special this season! The only real reason he wants to leave anyway is to get better recognition for England's World Cup 2002 squad!! And being at a bigger club like Leeds or Arsenal would definitley help him. But if he keeps on playing for West Ham in the same way he has been doing since he was transfer listed, he still stands a great chance of being called up again by Sven-Goran Eriksson.
