As I know there are at least 2 people here who own this machine, I thought I'd post a helpful description of getting a playlist to work on the machine if you copy MP3 files manually.

So, here it is, for all of you wanting to simply move the files via explorer or using a CF card reader:

"Simply copy your MP3's onto the disk into H:MUSIC. Here are the rules.
1. The music (or in my case the books on tape) titles MUST be less than or equal to 8 characters. e.g. song1234

2. At the least, the MP3 "Title" Tag must be defined or the mc3 will not dispay anything. I use "MP-ID3Tag-Renamer V3.3 and it works quite well I think for editing the tags (mp3rename.de)

3. The encoding should be 16KHz and 64kbps in order for the mp3 to be stable and not crash intermittently.

4. There must be an accompanying playlist file called (EXACTLY) "PLAYLIST.M3U". It is simply a list, one per line of all the mp3 titles that you wish to play and their order. Each title MUST be capitalized and MUST not be more than 8 characters. Here is an example of a few lines from mine:
FOTR1001.MP3
FOTR1002.MP3
FOTR1003.MP3
FOTR1004.MP3
FOTR1005.MP3

Here is an example of some of the contents of the MUSC directory:
H:MUSIC>dir /On /b
PLAYLIST.M3U
rotk4008.mp3
rotk4009.mp3
rotk4010.mp3
rotk4011.mp3
rotk4012.mp3
rotk5000.mp3
rotk5001.mp3
rotk5002.mp3
