Has anyone else seen this film?

It's a Japanese film by the way. Thought I say that here before continuing.

At first I thought I wouldn't like this film because it sounds really quite sick and disturbing, but after watching it, I think it's a pretty good film.

K, your probably now wondering what it's about.

What it's about is a class of school kids who get put on a deserted island, and they have three days to kill each other untill there's only one of them left. They all have these special colars on, kinda like the ones at the start of The Running Man, and if there's more than one of them left alive after three days, the colars explode killing everyone. Each of the students is given a suvival bag at the start with a random weapon in. Weapons include, guns, knives, cross-bows, grenades etc. Also the island is divided up into sections and every 6 hours someone calls out on some speakers new sections which will become danger zones and at what times. If you in a danger zone, your colar explodes, thus killing you. Aswell as calling out the zones, the guy speaking also reads out a list of all their classmates who have been killed.

This does sound like a really twisted film, but I recommend it! They showed it at my uni cinema, but I didn't know it was on and so I missed it. But my mate got it on DVD so i've seen it now.

Battle Royale rocks.
And what's even nicer is nobody paid any attention to it on it's limited release.
So there was no hysterical "BAN IT!" screaming from the poncy brigade, and Mr Ape didn't go watch because everyone was talking about how horrific it was.

"Beat" Takeshi is the teacher, and it's not just about watching kids kill each other, it's very subtle and pokes a sarcastic finger at the sort of people that watch "Reel-life" tv shows like Big Brother and Survivor.
It's message is "Sure it's horrific and stuff, but it gets ratings, you people watch it, otherwise it wouldn't be on".

Top film and available on R1 DVD and VCD.

But don't order it, because someone will watch it and imitate, they always do.
