Anyways, one of my Xmas presents was a Michael Jackson CD - History Part 1. I am a big fan of the King of Pop, and I want all the new re-mastered albums, however, I already have the History album. My parents, who bought the present, without me asking them to, gave me the receipt so I could go and exchange the present for one of the other albums.
So, I get down the town, go to change the album, but can't because I can't find an album I want to change it for. So I think "that's OK, I've got plenty of time".
Now that was yesterday, today I am sitting here thinking:
"I SUCK". This is not what Xmas is about. Xmas is about family and friends, and showing them you care.
I am not Christian, I do not believe in any God of any kind. This makes it slightly hypocritical of me to celebrate Xmas, however, I view it as a time when everyone has fun, and attempts to show others how much they feel for them.
Then I see on TV there is a website where you can "swap" doubles - the presents you got two of. And I began to realise just how commercial Xmas has become. Presents have basically become store vouchers to buy what YOU want rather than what you were given.
So, you may be asking, what is the Mighty GingerLord to do? Will he keep his two copies of the album, will he give one away to others less fortunate? Nope. I'll swap it for one I want, just like the millions of others up and down the country.
I SUCK.
