I was just wondering if anyone knows about this:

I'm working on my new site, and am thinking about protecting the content - copywrite or something.
Does anyone (maybe a pro?) know anything about this?
Issues of global protection, what i can copywrite, what i could do about people ripping off my work if i didn't get any such protection, that kind of thing, are the sorts of questions in my head right now.

Any help?

Online Copyright is quite difficult. Firstly youhave to prove who owns it and who has the intellectual rights to it.

Most people have a hard copy of what they publish on line, like our business, publishing, we own the rights to the hard copies making it easier for us to protect our work online under existing copyright laws.

What are you trying to copyright? Where are you trying to copyright it as the laws are different for UK, Europe and Worldwide.

Online copyright is possible, but difficult and expensive. If you want to know more, I have some documentation floating around the office somewhere and some useful links but if your only after copyright for your "personal" site, then to be honest it ain't worth it.

Well, copyRIGHTing is a tad difficult on the WWW, parly because anything on it is in the public domain by default. Trademarks and registered copyrights are legally protected, but there's not much you can do to stop people from nicking stuff unless you can actually catch them. It is possible to digitally watermark certain images, but this information can get lost very easily. Sorry!

I think you can stop people from using your images by doing something with javascript to disable right-clicks on your page, but if they want the image bad enough, it is easier to get. Acts like a pretty weak virtual bulldog.

Only thing I can think of at this moment in time.
