If your father is being reduced to nothingness at the hands of your brothers, your father's life is on your shoulders, you're hit by a two vehicles and you meet the girl of your dreams, you'd probably take a breather, but this is just a prelude to what Nicky has to experience...in Hell.

After Satan (Harvey Keitel) decides to renew his term of Satan-ship for another 10,000 years, two of his sons - Adrian (Rhys Ifans) and Cassius (Tommy Lister Jr) are furious. They break out of Hell and head to Earth, whilst freezing the gates of Hades - thus stopping any new souls entering Hell. Satan needs to souls to "feed" on, or he will decompose until there is nothing left. There is only one person fit for the job - his third son, Nicky (Adam Sandler) - a half-wit with a speech impediment. So, Nicky is sent out into the big, wide world to catch Adrian and Cassius and bring them back into Hades. If he fails, his father, Satan, will be gone forever and anyone can claim the thrown as Satan - even his two evil brothers. Along the way, he meets a young lady named Valerie (Patricia Arquette), who becomes his love interest. Nicky soon discovers that if he is killed, he is sent back to Hell. However, to Nicky's surprise, when he sacrifices himself to save Valerie, he is sent to heaven, where he meets a group of angels with a leader named Holly (Reese Witherspoon). Nicky is not alone, as he also has a strange flatmate, a talking dog and two grungers to help him along the way.

The video quality is what you would expect from a DVD and features a 16:9 ratio Anamorphic format. I found the audio somewhat lacking when music was played, but that aside, the A/V aspect is flawless.

There are extras a-plenty here. Firstly, there is a documentary on the making of the film and also a 20-minute documentary on Heavy Metal, and it's affect on the film. In this segment, they talk to Ozzy Ozzborne (Black Sabbath, Ozzy Ozzborne), Gene Simmons (Kiss), among a large host of other artists. There is also a vast array of Deleted Scenes - over 15 in all! There is an entertaining music video to watch of the main theme of the film, along with an excellent history of the main actors in the film. All in all, the extras are the decider in buying this film.

This is third film created by Adam Sandler's film production company, "Happy Madison" and Sandler has definately made a lasting impression. The film is not only action packed, but star studded, with notable guest appearences from Ozzy Ozzborne and Regis Philbin. I absolutely loved the audio track, with songs from such bands as Disturbed, Ozzy Ozzborne, P.O.D, Linkin Park and the Dandy Warhols. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from Little Nicky, and I was pleasantly surprised. I was treated to an 86 minute trawl through the struggle of one man's quest to save his father's life. All the elements are there - comedy, action and drama, making this the DVD to buy this January. This certainly competes with Sandler's other formiddable efforts (Big Daddy, Happy Gilmore) and is a must-see for anyone - Sandler fan or not!

Whens it released on DVD?

The dog bits were hilarious:

Mr Beefy (Dog): Ok Nicky, I have to go up-town to meet my contacts.

Nicky: Ok.

::Cut to next scene::

Valerie: Well where's your dog?

Nicky: He said he's up-town meeting his contacts or something.

::Scene temporarily switches::

Mr Beefy is on top of another dog.

Mr Beefy: What's my name?

Other Dog: Mr Beefy [Can't be bothered voice]

Mr Beefy: And...I love you.

::Scene switches back::

Oh, one more thing - it's been out on DVD for months!

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
