My brother got TIF 2002 for Xmas and so far I've been playing it more than my own game SSX Tricky.
I've played Pro Evo quite extensively at my friend's house, and I've also had a chance to play FIFA 2002 and I would be bold enough to say TIF 2002 is better than both of them.
FIFA is a simple, fluent game. Plays nicely, but is way too easy and you end up scoring around 5 goals in every match.
Pro Evo is much more realistic, but maybe 'too' realistic. In the 4 games I played I scored a total of 1.
Both are very good graphically, and the commentary on FIFA is far better than Pro Evo.
And while everyone argued over these two big shots, in the background was TIF 20002, which had been released a couple of months earlier.
It's not too easy, not too hard. If you're a team like Liverpool and you play in the English league, then yes, you will win most games. I'm 3rd currently, and I've lost once and drawn twice in about 9 games. However, this is on amateur level, and although I am finding it relatively easy, I'm only scoring around 2-3 a game. And there's 4 levels above that to go yet.
The graphics are top notch, and the players look excellent. The commentary, none other than ITV's (I think) Peter Drury is varied and enjoyable. The play is fluent and fast, but not as easy as FIFA. If you don't keep passing the ball cleanly, then you will be tackled, and you can't just run past players at will.
The power gauges mean you need good timing and you have to get it exactly right or it will go flying over. The keepers are good, saving most high shots and quite a few of the lower ones too.
Another great addition is that you have something to aim for. Every time you win a league, or a trophy in a season (selected from a wide range of european countries) your trophy is added to your 'cabinet', and as you go along you will collect more and more. You can collect trophys on all 4 difficulty levels so it will last a while.
Two player is fun, and there are many other options to choose from in exhibition. Loads of players, loads of teams (club and international) and some brilliant stadiums.
TIF 2002 is not a game you will want to put down. Both Pro Evo and FIFA can get boring at times, but TIF doesn't. It plays perfectly, and is enjoyable from the very start. It will last a long while in single player, and multiplayer could last forever.
So if you want a football game, why not be a little different from the criwd. Because This Is Football 2002= This Is Better than Pro Evo and FIFA.

TIF2002 is great for

Basically my point. I'm not a hardcore football gamer if you know what I mean, but I've been playing TIF 2002 non-stop.
And it's not actually that easy-in amatuer mode I can win most of my matches, but that's the first of 4 levels. So it's much tougher than FIFA.
3 Teams. People are in teams of 2. One plays one half, another plays the other. It was amazing fun. Until everyone got drunk. Then it was silly :o)
I understand TIF2002 is a much easier game to get into but its just way to "arcadey" for me. To easy to score goals and not much of a challenge.
Pro evo may be hard, frustating and take a long time to get the hang of but technically it is a better game. Once you have mastered game it feels and plays much much better than anything out there. Goals are much more rewarding when they go in, as they are harder to score.

I much prefer TIF over Fifa and Pro Evo. I admit Pro Evo is a fantastic game and I wouldn't be dissapointed to receive it as a gift, but TIF is definately the footy game I intend to part with my money for.
