After visiting the Special Reserve forums for over 300 days I have noticed many different styles of people drift in and out of the forums. The Xbox forum seemed to take a lot of stick early on and there were some very... Colourful people to be polite visiting the forums to let people know what they thought of the Xbox. Without further or do here is what I have compiled about the individual forums starting with the most spamme... I mean most popular...

FOG Chat:

I didn't used to venture into FOG Chat because posts like "I have just seen a spider" were dominating proceedings receiving lots of replies like "I have just shot a chicken". This is mainly a forum used by posters who are looking to bump up their word count and although quality posts lie in and amongst the everyday chat it is really a regular chat room for people to talk about random topics. If you just want to chill out then this is the place for you as there is always someone telling a joke (or trying to tell a joke as the case usually is) or there is always someone wanting to chat about the most random subjects on the planet. If your main aim is notability them I advise you drift in and out of FOG Chat on a regular basis just so that people know who you are and to put your stake in your children’s future.

FOG Prime:

People criticise this forum as being an excuse for a deliberate GAD attempt but if you have ventured into PRIME you will know that there are some quality posters like myself... I mean like Cyclone and pb. Posts in this forum are very varied and although regular visitors will pick up on posts which have been done before there are lots of original and interesting posts. I would class this forum as a more serious area for people who want to delve deep into their minds in order to drag out the most complicated and statistical posts. If your main aim is to become a well known and respectable poster then I advise you pop into PRIME to do posts every now and again.

Microsoft - Xbox & Windows:

A very friendly forum full of interesting and knowledgeable posters (I have a membership) who are willing to help out people at all times. This forum was under a lot of pressure from Newbie Fan Boys in the early days but things have calmed down now as people have realised that the Xbox has a lot to offer for many styles of gamer. Very few people post Windows related problems in here but for the few that do there is always someone there to provide an answer. If you enjoy talking sensibly about a console then I highly recommend the Xbox forum!

Nintendo - GCube, GB, GBA & 64:

Even though I have only started visiting the forums after getting my GameCube in January I think I understand how the forum works. It's always a bustling place containing a mixture of posters. From the hot headed and argumentative Whitestripes (about 20% of my word count has come from arguments with this guy) to the big Resident Evil fan that is Tiltawhirl this forum contains a nice blend of everything. At time the forum can become over bearing with people constantly making new topics, however if you can see past this then the Nintendo forum has a lot to offer.

Sony - PS1 & PS2:

I visit the PS2 forum on a regular basis and although I don't post much I like to read about what's new and what to look out for. Rather like the Nintendo forum the PS2 forum also contains a mixture of posters who like to analyse different areas of the PS2 (if you understand what I mean). Although I sold my PS2 to fund money for an Xbox (I know it was a risky move but I am very glad I made the decision) I still like to see what is coming out on the console for future reference when I pick one up again after my GCSE's (it sounds very complicated and although I divorced the PS2 I will be getting married again around July/August time. Quite a busy forum and a nice place to visit!

Sega - Dreamcast:

The forum which is slowly becoming extinct yet there are some Sega fans (like myself) who still visit the forum. Sadly the Dreamcast was very short lived and even with games like Skies of Arcadia, Shenmue and REZ the console just didn't sell. Fortunately however (thanks to Special Reserve) there is still some where for people to go if they want to talk about games past and present even if they don't appear on the Dreamcast. Very few posts per day but I like to visit to see what is going on.

PC Gaming:

Any problems with game installations? Latest Direct X? If so then this is the place for you as there is usually someone with an answer. PC gaming is very much alive and although I prefer console gaming I still like to visit to see what the latest Strategy games are managing to pull off. The forum rarely gets busy but it is used for people who want to arrange an online game or for people who just want to talk about PC Gaming!

SR Site Bugs and Customer Service:

Rather like my ambition to become an Action Man (when I was 7 so don't get any ideas) there are lots of posters who just dream of becoming a member of the SR Staff team! If you have any customer related enquires then this is the only place where a staff member will reply to you (unless you are very lucky). The staff are very helpful during the day and they don't bite (honest), if your game hasn't arrived then this is where you make your complaints... Not that there are any of course...

WWE:

Ah yes the WWE forum which is full of wrestling crazed posters who even set up matches between themselves! If only The Rock featured more in the WWE then I may be tempted to go and post in the WWE forum on a regular basis. I keep going to check back in to see if The Rock has returned (I am a deprived child without Sky TV) but every time I enter it seems The Rock just isn't there. Maybe... Just maybe he will return one day and my enthusiasm for WWE will return in abundance.

Sport:

Betting, heated discussions and all the latest Sports news is right at your finger tips. Although Football is the most discussed sport I have seen posts about many other sports as well. I very rarely post in the Sports forum for my own safety (and for the safety of others) as when I get talking about Newcastle United and football I always end up in an argument (just ask my friends). Interesting forum with a lot to offer! Watch out for the betting though as it can become highly addictive...

Long, Interesting or Amusing Stories:

If you venture into here then be prepared for some of the strangest posts you will have ever seen across the internet. Some of the posts can be funny (although I find FOG Prime a better place for humour) but if you have a lot of time on you hands then you will probably enjoy some of the stories on offer. If you have very little patience and a short attention span then I suggest you only visit here just to see what I mean!

Life, The Universe and All That Jazz:

Rather like the description above this forum is full of long posts which require your time and efforts. Not all of the posts are excessively long and it is an enjoyable place to visit if you just want to talk about what is going on in the world (like the war with Iraq). I only visit on rare occasions so therefore I can not recommend it going by regular experience.

Web Design, PC, Internet & Freeola:

Designing a website? Need help with Hyperlinks? If this is you then you can not go wrong with the Web Design forum. For the few times that I visit I have noticed that there are usually quite a few people looking for answers and information regarding new PC software so be prepared if you decide to venture inwards. If you have a new program to recommend then why not pop along to the Web Design forum and give people your recommendations.

Game Ideas and Retro Games:

Sonic the Hedgehog was a classic yet there are very few people who still discuss games that are over 10 years old. The Retro games forum is a great place to visit if you want to drag old memories back up from the dead or if you just want to appreciate the era when gameplay was all that mattered. I don't visit this forum on a regular basis as Retro gaming is not something I am a fan of, for those of you who are however will find lots to discuss (if you can find someone to discuss them with).

Movies, TV, Music and Book:

I like to visit this forum if I am unsure whether or not to rent a film or DVD but it can be used as any of the functions above. A fan of Disney? Then hang your head in shame... I mean you can discuss the latest cartoon or animation with other fans of the classic company. I have rarely seen posts about Books but there are plenty of Musical enthusiasts who are willing to discuss all things audio and therefore I highly recommend this forum for serious and casual posters alike.

Which ever forum you decide to visit I am sure you will enjoy your stay but remember to keep all keyboards and Mice inside you vehicle at all times and remember not to stroke Whitestripes as he has a tendency to bite. Hope you enjoy your stay and I will look forward to seeing you again!

Thanks for Reading

Why thank you! I often frequent the Life forum too, but be warned that the Life forum is for those who are serious about their posts and not for time wasters.

It's nice to have such a friendly (most of the time!) area in the FOG forums.

Someone did this just a few days ago and won - though I think yours is much more comprehensive. Well done!
