Around half a decade ago huge Japanese electronics firm, Sony ventured into a new area for them, consloe gaming and brought out the playstation. A couple of years later, renowned console gamers Nintendo unveiled their new console to the world, the N64. Although better in terms of power, the N64 never quite managed to topple sony's crown. So why did first timers sony manage to beat off the experienced power of nintendo? Personally I believe it was all down to production time. The N64 is renowned for its long production times meaning the best of games spend years in production while sony spew out sequel after sequel. For instance think about Sony's real icon Lara Croft from tomb Raider, she is about to embark on her fifth adventure while Mario is still waiting for his second. If mario and link were on Cd we would all be playing their third or fourth adventure instead of paitently waiting for their second. Given that the games in all their graphicated glory wouldn't fit onto a cd or play on the playstation asks the question what is more important quantity or quality? If you look at the sales of the big two (sorry sega) quantity seems to win. I'm not saying that playstation games are not quality far from it, but it has to be said that Nintendo or Rare made games are top notch when it comes to quality. Another reason could be that the N64 was considered on the whole as a kiddies console, with cutesy characters in flowerly lands. In a time were kids are growing up faster than they should, beat-em ups, first person shooters and action adventures win the day. If the Gamecube is to succeed as it should, Nintendo will have to cut production times ( even if that means cutting quality i'm afraid to say) and gain some sreeet cred by appealing to the older gamer or sony will quite literally blow them out of the water.

I believe Nintendo's success will come down to two factors.
1. Big range of games 2. Marketing
Sony got both of these right with the PSX, Nintendo and Sega failed with both. Sales will not come down to how powerful a console is but how the console is sold to the public. Let's hope Nintendo has learnt from its mistakes and releases a good catalogue of games, quantity and quality, and puts lots of effort in marketing the GameCube, otherwise Sony will win, again.

It would be amazing if the gamecube flew! Wow it's flying around the room!

Seriously now I think it will do much better than the N64 did! Even though I am and have always been a Nintendo fan I think the N64 could have done better! Most of the games were designed for little kids but the ones that weren't are amazing!

The PSone will flop like a big tub of jelly. The Dreamcast is not currently being outsold by the playstation - the games are - because there are more PS owners in the |UK. The Dreamcast is the Uk's best selling console At the Moment.

I have some very important facts to add. The psx's processor runs at 33mhz. The Dreamcast's runs at 200mhz. The PSX2's runs at 300mhz. The GameCube's runs at 400mhz. The PSX Is out selling the dreamcast at over 10 to 1, even though the PSX is 6 yrs old. Can anyone explain this? If it is to happen again, Nintendo will die. Sony will complete own them. 1 more thing - How many people will buy the PSOne? It is around £80, so it could sell very well.
