I just put this in reply to your identical post in the PC forums...

-----

Take the NTL software off - you don't need it!

I now have a cable modem, but when I was using NTLworld's dial-up 0800 connection, I hated the software too.

Basically all it does is adjust your standard Windows network and dial-up settings (including the phone number dialled) and give you a kind of control panel to access them by.

What I did was go through all the settings in the NTL software - phone number, TCP/IP settings, Primary & Secondary DNS servers etc. - and make a note of them; then I un-installed NTL's software and configured the settings manually.

And hey-presto - same connection, using standard Windows options.

Just delete everything to do with NTL on your

All you need to do to access NTL is the Phonenumber, your login and

Blimey, if I wrote what you just said I would have posted it at the same time as you.

Uninstall the entire thing, making a note of your connection details (i.e. password, username, email username and password, etc.) and set up a new connection manually using the connection setup wizard. You'll then be able to acces an icon that can be use everytime you go online, or when a program attempts to go online.

I think you have to click on 'Start', then 'Programs' and finally 'StartUp'. The NTL World Welcome thing should be in there and you can delete it form there.
