Since it was first shown in issue 121 of Nintendo official magazine, galleon: island of mystery has been top of thousands of Rpg fans and gamecube owners everywhere. The first amazing screenshots showed crisp images of the games characters and locations. The article described the main story of the game and the characters it would include.

Step into the shoes of Pirate captain Rhama Sabrier who has docked his ship in the port town of Akbar in search of a magical talisman that can bring ultimate power to the good of heart (and as usual ultimate evil to the bad of heart). The story starts with Rhama searching for his first contact; a healer who has discovered a ship that’s cargo bay cannot be opened. However when searching for him Rhama comes across an unusual man name Jabez who claims to be the healer’s assistant and tells Rhama that he will lead him to the healer. Jabez leads Rhama across a rickety bridge that leads deeper into the island. As they cross the bridge it conveniently falls apart just as Jabez gets to the other side. Rhama survives the drop and begins his search for his would be assassin.

The game doesn’t just take part In Akbar and you will find yourself sailing across the seas to several different islands on this graphically lush adventure. The game is said to be massive ( as said by cubefocus.com) and will have enormous replay value and last ability. Galleon will be venturing on to Pc and Xbox before it reaches the GC but the game developers state that the game will not be a cheap Xbox port and will have many distinct changes that use the gamecube to the best of its abilities. The president of Digital Mayhem (The games developer) Jim Molitor said “Galleon will take full advantage of the Cube’s features and technology”.

The game has now been in development for 5 years! And still it is set to come out this December! Why has the game taken so long I hear you ask? There is a multitude of answers. The first is that Galleon will be the first game to make full use of the game cube’s graphical capabilities. The graphics will be the crispest and smoothest ever seen in a GC game (so far or so the developers say). Another is that so much time has been put in to making every single location in the game as fully interact able as possible, Allowing players to interact with nearly every person, most items and nearly all the parts of the landscape. The final reason is that the team behind galleon have worked on several other major games before including the tomb raider series and The legend of Zelda ocarina of time and have been incorporating similar characteristics into the games making modern day and older gamers familiarize with the control set up quicker and fell more at home with the third person interface. Both of these games have been major success and have succoured record sales at one time during their release. The designers have also been inputting buckets full of original ideas including an option to control several characters at once and an easy to use item display section.

All these great concepts and ideas make galleon look like one of the greatest games to appear in the genre since ocarina of time itself.
Hopefully, the games release date will not be put back anymore and Pc, Xbox and Gamecube owners will be able to experience this exhilarating, swashbuckling adventure sometime near December.
