Fabien Barthez
Barthez is currently showing the world that he is the best goalkeeper around at the moment. He has not conceded many goals recently and he is also showing young keepers how to save shots and not make stupid mistakes like many keepers do. I admire his skills with his feet as he has shown recently that he is as skilful as Ryan Giggs and he knows how to take on strikers, without losing the ball. Barthez is England's number one goalkeeper and he is only 21 so he has many years ahead of him playing top quality football.
Laurent Blanc
Blanc signed for Man United after they sold Jaap Stam and what a signing he has proved to be. He has got unbelievable pace and does not let many strikers get passed him at all. Even at the age of 36, he is able to keep up with the likes of Michael Owen and Teddy Sheringham. His tackling ability is impressive too. He has never been booked or sent off in a career that has seen him play for quite a few teams. He has also capped France many times and he has scored an amazing 2 goals for his country. Since joining United, he has scored quite a few goals and he has helped United become one of the toughest teams to score goals against.
Ade Akinbiyi
Akinbiyi has got to be playing the best football of his career. The man can't stop scoring goals and he is way above everyone else in the leading scorers table. His first touch is amazing and he is constantly running circles around defenders. His shooting accuracy is unbelievable and many people think he will soon partner Michael Owen, up front, in the Japanese team.
Blanc is 36, but he is improving with every game at United. He may not be the ideal replacement for Stam, but he still has the pace, tackling abillity and experience of a true, top-class proffesional!
Akinbiyi is one of Nigeria's hottest strikers. He has really started to show he can be a top Premiership player this season, with great pace, but his finnishing isn't quite what you'd expect from a top scorer. I was very dissapointed to see him leave Ashton Gate, and I know we'll never find anyone anywhere near his standards, who can replace him!! Not Tony Thorpe, he's a great goal-scorer, and not Lee Peacock, and he is also a top finnisher. I aslo think England, Sweden and Argentina should beware of him, next summer!!
3 top class Premiership players.
