I'm buying a new hard drive for my PC next week and am seriously thinking of opting for the Western Digital Caviar 40GB one. Has anyone else got this one? Was it easy enough to install? I've never installed a hard drive before so I'm rally interested in anyone's feedback on this.

Check your motherboard/BIOS documentation. Older hardware may limit the size of the hard drive you can install e.g. I have to have two 20Gig HD drives in my computer mostly because it won't support anything larger (though it does also improve access times).
However, you may be able to flash your BIOS to get round this.
Physically, sticking the hard drive into your PC is no problem (just be careful with master/slave jumper settings if needed i.e. more than one divice daisy-chained). Is it a second hard drive or a replacement?

they're reasonably easy to install, but :
make sure the drive heads are alligned with the counter sunk readers. also, ensure the drive balance module is set to horizontal, and the discombobulator jumper setting is set to nuclear.
