Gaming is innocent, right? Think again because there is a darker, more malevolent side to innocently blowing up a bus full of nuns with a rocket launcher. Computer games can cause death, not virtual death where your pixelly character squirms and flops to the bottom of the screen, real death, the kind where you die and can’t reset your machine because you are buried under 6 feet of soil.

Here to back up my ‘wild allegations’ is an article of a man who died because of a computer game.

MAN DIES AFTER PLAYING COMPUTER GAMES NON-STOP
October 10 2002

A 24-year-old South Korean man died after playing computer games nonstop
for 86 hours, police said yesterday.
The jobless man, identified by police only by his last name Kim, was
found dead at an Internet cafe in Kwangju, 260 kilometres southwest of
Seoul. Quoting witnesses, police detective Oh Myong-sik in Kwangju said the man
had been virtually glued to the computer since late last Friday and had
no decent sleep and meals.
The man collapsed in front of the counter early yesterday but soon
regained consciousness. He then went to the toilet where he later was
found dead, the police officer said. Initial investigation ruled out the possibility of murder and that the death was caused due to lack of regular human activity.

This, in my opinion, is quite nasty stuff. If games are made to be so addictive that they draw you away from regular life then surely they are dangerous. However computer games cause death by other means, they can be so violent or the plot so realistic they can cause innocent people to become warped psycho’s hell-bent on killing someone. In an online investigation into the “Littleton Killings” police came to the conclusion the two boys were influenced by games.

Doom, Quake and mass murder
Gamers search their souls after discovering
the Littleton killers were part of their clan

As the press corps pries into the personalities and pastimes of Littleton killers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, we've learned all kinds of curious details -- like that the two were gamers, fans of Doom and Quake.
Harris was an avid player, according to media reports that emphasized he spent hours battling animated opponents. He reportedly created "add-on levels" for the games, posted instructional files on his Web site, was a member of a competitive Quake clan and read books filled with game tips and tricks -- all of which were hauled away as evidence.

This, in itself, shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who has hung out with many teenage boys: Millions of gamers have put hours into these two bloody shoot'em-ups, happily blowing pixelated enemies to bits. And, of course, the vast majority of them have never killed anything but a fictitious opponent.
Still, violent video games were quickly blamed as a possible motivator in Tuesday's mayhem. Like Goth clothing, bisexuality, the Internet and German industrial music -- all of which have been called into question in association with the Littleton killers.

So you see computer games can influence weak-minded people, or those with social insecurities to do things they see in games. Games are an escape that allow you to be whoever you want to be, harmless entertainment in most cases but now and again it is the driving force that can cause a normal person to turn into a killer. You may argue it is in the extreme minorities it happens to, but minorities have a huge impact on the world. It only took a few crazy idiots to cause the September 11th tragedy, only a few power-hungry men to create Nazi Germany, which led to World War II and caused many millions of deaths. Empires have been forged and cities overturned by the few.

The moral of this post, never underestimate the few.

Wow, didnt know that you can kill yourself just by using a computer so much...
But it is not really the computer that killed him though, it mearly distracted him from a normal healthy human life style, so lack of food and decent sleep could kill any one, give the right distraction...

Surely you meant to write "Shouldn't" instead of "should"? Surely!

Are you one of those people who will only read something if it is under 50 words or has the word "breasts" in it?
