sure games are different but they are still media products so they deserve a fair as a person would with a film

I have a friend who, when I say I've been playing on my PS2 all day, says that I spend too much time on that. He's currently got approx 400 or 500 DVD movies and spends just as much if not more time watching them than I do playing.
I'd say that DVD's being cheaper than any console game would command a greater area on show in a shop (if that's what you mean) which is usually why CD's have an even greater area dedicated to them in the likes of HMV, Virgin etc
In the end it's all down to maximising your retail area to generate maximum profits. *
