Who here likes Fomula 1? Either you like it or you hate it. Most people think its boring. I am personally a great fan of it. My favorite driver was Mika Hakkinen but now he has left for a year I support David Couthard.

hehe, great post, with some good points made...

i think next year it will be between montoya and big schuey as long as montoya has the reliability he didn't have last year. i don't think the car was ready for his driving style i.e on the edge.
montoya is my top choice to displace michael for one simple reason. he races michael schumacher the man not michael schumacher the reputation.
just look at someone like coulthard. schuey goes to block him coulthard will just back off or if he's infront most of the time he'll just give away the lead to schuey without a battle. now compare him to montoya and for example at the austrian GP. montoya was in a obviously slower car but still managed to hold schuey off for an absolute age i wouldn't expect coulthard to do the same. montoya has finally brought a bit of aggression into the sport to balance out schuey's. forget what villeneuve and irvine CLAIM to have montoya SHOWS he has the bottle to battle it out at 200mph. if it weren't for his car braking down and certain idiots smashing him up his rear he would have got to about 3rd or 4th in the championship - not bad for his first season in a totally different car from what he was used to driving.

I used to watch it, but in the last couple of years it has gotten more and more boring.

Some great analysis there Your Honour. As always, I'm looking forward to the coming season, for a while I thought that Britain was going to lose it's GP!

The only thing I don't like about F1 is the dodgy dealings going on in the background, all the teams have to suck up to Ecclestone for no good reason - F1 should be more like Football Teams & The FA.

Also, with regards to Jordan, well, people slagged Damon Hill off when he was there saying he wasn't as good without a Williams underneath him, but what have Jordan done snice?? Sweet FA, thats what. Without a class driver like Hill there was no one to put the car to the test, hence, it has turned to pap.

And another thing - I wish they would sort out those wire tethers that hold the tires on, they don't seem to work, so why not put some proper barriers up at the GP?

I think JPM is going to do better this season, baby Schumacher will have to play catch up... 'Ole Micheal doesn't have many more years left at the top flight (3-4 max, then he will do a Hakkinen I think) and so we need some indication of who is going to be the new Top Dog.

I hope that Coulthard and Jenson Button do much better also. Button needs to focus because he could have runined his own career before it has even begun thanks to last years' efforts... The Benetton boss also manages other F1 drivers and has already hinted that Button does not impress him that much, and has another driver lined up for when his "loan" period is up... Question is, will Button do enough this year to earn a drive back at Williams, or will he end up driving at... oh, Jaguar... Irvine is getting on a bit, and as has already been mentioned, Jaguar need to impress, new blood like Button could do the trick.

My tuppence worth.

I'm a big fan.

I think you'll be disappointed for the 2003 season, I don't reckon Hakkinen will be back. If he is, who will they replace? Raikonnen (sp?) or Coulthard.

I'd like to see Coulthard win the Championship, but next year it will be between Montoya and Big Schuey. Ralf may win a race or two, but he's just not as good as Montoya - and I think he knows it.

At the end of last season he was asking for team orders to be put in place. Why would you want that you little German fool? In the end it's a bit of luck for him that they didn't bring in team orders, as Montoya would have been the No. 1.

Talking of number 1's, it would seem Ferrari's strategy may not have helped them. They were after Raikkonen as well for next season, but he didn't want to go as he would have been No. 2 to Michael Schuey. Have Ferrari lost out? In my view, yes. Barrichello is a good driver, but I think that Raikonnen has more promise in the long run.

Jordan were a bit of a disappointment this again, which is a blow. I would have liked to have seen them do better. Trulli and Fisichella are swapping over for next season, I feel that Trulli has the better deal there. Renault can afford to spend big in F1, which they'll need to do if they want to have a hope of fighting it out with the top 3.

Sauber were my team of the season last year. Normally a mid-grid team, they certainly showed themselves to be best of the rest after the big three this year. A pleasant surprise. Will they be able to keep it up next season? With rumours of them losing their main sponsor (Red Bull), and losing the obviously talented Raikkonen I can only see them slipping down the grid next season.

As well as Sauber, Jordan and Renault, I feel that Jaguar and BAR will be fighting for that fourth spot as well. BAR recently launched their car, and lost MD Craig Pollock (replaced by Rally Organiser Dave Richards - in charge of Bennetton for the '98 season). BAR have a lot to prove. With an estimated £350million input by BAT (British American Tobacco) over the last three years, and no results to shout about as yet.

BAR think that they are the most succesful startup team in recent years. What? 1. They weren't a startup team. They took over from Tyrell so the major infrastructure was already there. 2. Stewart won a GP in their third year. The European GP was won by Johnny Herbert. So all in all, BAR have a lot to prove.

Jaguar do as well. With the might and money of Ford behind them, they really have no excuse for lack of results. The odd good result last season (podium for Eddie Irvine at Monaco) was definately the hightlight of the Big Cats recent career.

Who does that leave?

Orange Arrows - They seem to show good promise at the start of the season, then go off after a few races. Sauber did that for a number of years, and look what happened last season.

Minardi - A lot of hard work went into getting them on the grid in Australia last year, this time they've got the financial security they need. I'm not expecting miracles, but it would be nice to see them a little further up the grid.

Prost - Well, this sums them up: No money, a driver in charge instead of a business man, gone into receiveship. I'll be surprised if they are on the grid next year.

Don't forget the new team next year though: TOYOTA.

Yup, after spending a year testing and refining and testing some more. The Japanese engine manufacturer will be on the gird next season. I expect them to take up Minardi's old place on the back row.

Im afraid i dont like the sport, though i use to love it, but as you say, now i think its become boring. Its all about pit stops now and that makes for boring racers.

Instead i moved on to motor Bike racing, which i really enjoy, not to mention football too!
