I want to hack a terminal so i can disable all turrets and drones, but the only thing that comes up on screen is a bunch of letters, numbers and words. My problem is that you only get 4 attempts and i have no idea where to click.

It is confusing at first but the hacking process is basically a word game.
If you click on one of the words and it says "3/5 correct" it means 3 letters from that word belong to the correct word or password, all you need to do then is look for another word with those correct letters and eventually you should guess the right one.
PS: Take a look at the cheats for Fallout New Vegas here on Freeola, I found a way to get unlimited hack attempts, it also works on Fallout 3 :)
