In this recent thread Freeola Knowledge Base there was a little discussion about screen resolutions and browser sizes etc. and how different visitors will view your website.
I use a number of physical monitors which a couple of popular resolutions to test my work, but -
www.foldtester.com is a cool tool that does some of the work for you.
Thought it was worth a mention.
