I havent played Silent Hill 2 yet but the developers say that they have used a middleware that has enhanced the sound so that it keeps you suspensed as you play through the game.
Tricky has it is brilliant
SSX Tricky and The Bouncer(I think), they raved on about it having 5.1, so it should have.
