17" is ok, but if the TV's were bigger you could have splitscreen.
Having said that, splitscreen wouldn't be neccessary in a LAN network.

exactly, then even with games without internet connectivity, you could see how good u really are against other people, rather than jsut friends, and there would be monthly competitions with prizes, also it would be a really good place to meet people who who could form teams with and clans to compete online against others in FPS, dont forget this is the very early stages of console online gaming, who knows what will happen in the future

That's a brilliant idea!
I reckon it'll work well with the compatibillity between the console and arcade versions of F-Zero, but that it'd be even better with if you could use your own memory card and game data in a LAN center.
i just want to know if in theory, whether people would like to play games this way
Halo 16 player sounded great until I realised I'd need 4 Xbox's (not so bad in itself - I can find 4 Xbox owners), 4 TVs (again, a pain but I have 3 adequate TV's in my house and could probably get a friend to bring one), and 15 players (oh dear... I don't have enough Xbox owning friends and the controls aren't exactly "pick up and play". And I'm not bringing 15 or so total strangers into my house!)
Playing it at a LAN centre sounds pretty good though.
Gamecube Phantasy Star would be pretty good too.
You could train at home and then bring your character on a memory card for LAN play.
As it is, I don't think that Phantasy Star online is worth it.
After buying the game, AND the keyboard, AND the modem adaptor, you not only have to pay dial-up fees/broadband line rental, you have to pay a fixed amount a month to subscribe - Xbox live is cheaper and that includes ALL Xbox live games.
Playing at a LAN centre would be nice way of playing without having to pay all these extra costs (just a few pounds or so for an hours play - cheaper than arcade machines).
So yep, I'm all for LAN centres for consoles.
In theory.
Just as long as we had the right games.
I know a lot of people who liked going to play PC games at a LAN place (before it shut-down), and I think these places would be a bigger-success, just because more people play console games than they do, PC's.
