Go on. Spend a quid on the Big Issue, or donate some cash to charity.
Muslims the world over have just celebrated Eid, it is part of this celebration to donate at least 2.5% ot thier savings to charity.
How much is 2.5% of what you have in the bank, or in your wallet? Not a lot I bet. So it wouldn't hurt to give it to a needy cause. Eh?
I once bought one, realised I din't hve enough money for the train fare and got caught by the ticket dude. I got away with it though, just gave him the money the next day :-)

Yep. I agree. Being a Muslim myself, I actually did donate (a little bit more than) the 2.5%, which I was planning to spend on a 2nd hand Dreamcast and some games.
My fiancee and I are also planning to sponsor a child next year, might be £15 a month, but between 2 of us, it's nothing is it?
I like to buy the Big Issue as often as possible aswell, but I just have an inherent distrust of lots of the Big Issue sellers, I try only to buy from those that I have seen around for a while. There are a lot who say "buy my last big issue" when they have a stack of 'em in a bag somewhere, then there are a few dodgy ones who are not official sellers. Than there are the beggers who run the same scam week after week "I need train fare home..." next week, you see 'em pulling the same scam on another poor schmuck.
I don't know. At least if you donate to a proper charity you can rest easy knowing the money will go somewhere worthy.
As for governments fighting wars in other countries rather than sorting out the homeless problem, well, I'm know Goatboy has a great Bill Hicks quote about military spending and famine.
That was that.
Wonder if it were cannabis? :)
Although I am into charities, Amnesty International, Research for cancer etc
Although this is what I was thinking earlier, there is only so much you as a person can do.. sure they're are many like me but governments don't give a damn... they'd glad to support a war which is killing families and making people homeless than try and sort problems in *their own country*.
I buy a Big issue everytime I go into Glasgow... usually from same bloke, I remember him... don't think he recognises me... anyway another seller approached my mate and asked him to:
" Mate, gonna take this bag fur me?, that man dropped his glove I'm going to give it back "
Long story cut short. Turns out it was full of drugs...
Shame that people like him give them bad name...
Funny how the the *upper class* with the most pennies are the ones that don't give a damn about anyone else...
Thats where I love Karl Marx's theory of Communism, but it would never work as the world is full of... you get the idea.
:)
Because homelessness/child abuse isn't just a festive thing.
Agree with your sentiments entirely funkygamer, just wanted to add my bit.
