The Next Generation Console board game is sold in every good toy store and is only £130! Now if this were true and there were such a game I’m sure this would be the most competitive game ever to hit the stores. It’s sure to break up families and friends so I’d advise you never try to recreate any ideas you may have seen on this letter.

The idea of the game is to gain respect points. To do this you must produce successful games; make important decisions like paying 3rd party companies or even bribing other companies to stop production of certain games. You also have money which you must use wisely on production, research, bribing, getting put in jail and advertisement.

Now here is the full rules and features of the game. I hope you enjoy.

Number of players: 4
Different pieces: Gamecube, PS2, X Box and GBA SP

Money you begin with: £1000
Respect points: 10

Every piece chosen has it’s own individual pros and cons. Some will help you on your journey to becoming a successful 3rd generation console and others will cause problems.

Gamecube: The advantage is that Nintendo are great at producing original games. Every time you create a game you gain 2 extra respect points.
The disadvantage for Nintendo is that finding 3rd parties is very difficult especially since the console is very ambitious. So instead of only landing on one 3rd party space to be able to sign a contract you need to land on two.

PS2: The advantage of the PS2 is that a wide selection of games is already available. When starting the game you begin with 3 games for sale.
The disadvantage though is that the PS2 even though it has a wide range of games has a few poor titles so when selling take away £50 every month for loss.

X Box: The advantage for this console is that it is that it is online making more money every month on top of console sales. Add £30 on top of your console sales per month.
Disadvantage though is that it is lacking the great games like PS2 and Gamecube so take away 2 respect points every time a game goes on sale.

GBA SP: This little wonder is nearly up for release and includes a 1 point respect extra start at the beginning of the game while a £100 start
Disadvantage though is that it is cheapest out of all consoles. You then lose £20 every month in selling price.

Now this is important. Every month you earn £50. But check your abilities as well to see if you gain or lose money. Also every game you produce gives you an extra £30 a month and a further 4 respect points.

Top produce a game you must land on a space that reads “3rd party supplier” or “create own game.” 3rd party supplier means you must sign a contract chosen at random from a pile and follow what it reads whether it’s pay £10 for research or miss a go to help develop game. 3rd parties range from Activision to Ubi Soft giving different amounts of respect points. At the end you will be told how many respect points you earn. Create own game only requires you to pay money. Also wait two goes and you earn respect points.

Spaces on the board are:

3rd party supplier (see above)
Create own game (see above)
Can game (Any projects under way are stopped)
Take loan from Bill Gates (Borrow up to £500 but pay back in sets every month.)
Battle of the best (
Random card (Choose a card from pile)
Push release date forward (Any game under way is immediately released.)
Jail (Place where evil evil people are kept for bad behaviour.)
And many more…

Cards included are:
Nintendo (Immediately release a game produced by own company. Except no money or respect points, only money every month.)
Sony (Earn award for “best console.” Earn 12 respect points.)
Microsoft (Immediately go to 3 desired spots on board.)
Done for drinking, go to jail (Lose 10 respect points and go to jail.)
Bribe safe! (Bribe someone to halt release date by 3 goes. Choose player.)
Bribe busted! (Get caught bribing, lose 8 respect points and go to jail.)
Rare (If a Nintendo player owns card they must hand over to X Box due to move from company and pay £50. If X Box owner owns they earn 2 games. Except no money, or respect points unless monthly sales. If Sony own then place card back in pile.)
Activision (Play card and you immediately earn 3 respect points.)
Mario (Save card. If below £50 you can use to release one game, earn 10 respect points and gain £300)
Halo (Save card. If below £400 you can use to take away someone elses game but you lose £50)
GTA (If someone has a Mario card you cannot play. When played though all players immediately hand over £100)
And many more…

If sent to jail you must roll a six or pay a fine of £200 and 1 respect point by the way.

The winner is the person who has the most respect points. Players can also purchase respect points at the end of the game at £10 a piece.

So there you have it. The ultimate in competitive family fun. Imagine taking the role of Miyamoto or Bill Gates. Be warned though this is one heck of a game.

Thanks for reading.
