With these new consoles around......all of them are completely different sizes. Lets take a judges look at them:
The X-Box : This wonderfully ugly shaped box measures just over the size of a regular VCR. Perfect to go under a TV, not on a table that you work on.
The Playstation 2 : The Playstation 2 is a cubiod, very thin, and quite long. Most easily stored vertically on the stand, and fits on a table very easily next to a TV.
The Gamecube : This cube is actually very small, and fits perfectly under a TV or next to a TV on a table.
So does size actually affect wether people buy it or not?
Yes, I think, as no one wants a massive box taking up the whole of your table. Luckily, size isn't actually a problem with 2 of the consoles. It is only a problem with the X-Box, but this may be due to the fact that it has a hard drive and is the most powerful. So if you want small, go for Gamecube. Medium, go for the PS2, and large, go for the X-Box. Don't base your choice of console on this fact only though. The choice is up to you. Hopefully, this might help.

Man pay £300 for console.
Console is massive and looks like it should cost £300
Man happy.
X-Box is massive and I like that.
I want people to come over and say "Good lord, what a massive cosole that is! It must have cost a fortune!" and I nod wisely before showing them Halo and other games.

OR

Man pay £not sure yet
Console is tiny and looks like a lego abortion.
Man scratch head and single tear slips down fase
Gaycube is tiny and easily lost with other lego toys
People come over and point at little console and say "Wow, what a retarded looking thing! How much did you pay for that?"
Man shrug and lie so he not look stupid
Man look stupid anyway.
Man stay indoors and play big colourful kiddy games whilst mates go out and play Halo and MGS2

X-Box: Smashing stuff wiv weight since Gates smiled inanely.

I dont think theres many people who do consider the phsical asthetics of a console when making the decision to purchase... Most, I would have thought, were thinking mainly about the games/what console their mate has/etc...????

Same old point, aesthetics do affect our decisions when choosing to buy a console, and I know for a fact that I often consinder in my mind where i'm able to store my new game systems.

I'd never buy a console on it's size or appearance, but it was a big influence when I could visualise my PS2 sitting nicely into my living room.

I would have thought that if the size of the console affected your decision at all that youve probably been a little ill-advised?

The more powerful a console is, the bigger it is. But this case isn't always true. GameCube is quite small compared to PS2 and Xbox, but is very powerful. PS2 compared to Xbox is also small. Big-slow was right saying that US made Xbox big for a bigger presentation, but as technology moves on, smaller is better.

Most of us prefer smaller mobiles, handhelds and so on. The Japanese are the best at these situations as GC and PS2 prove! USA still have a lot to learn when it comes to gaming.

the truth is there different sizes because of the people there aimed at. the japanese like everything small, thats why they have all those tiny gadgets and errr celebration chocalates but in america the bigger the box, the better the present.
