"Is the PS2 more powerful than The GC?"

I've just been reading some hardware specs of the PS2, X-box and GC. Although the X-box is the clear winner, what I'm confused about is people in forums saying that the PS2 is a more powerful machine. Sure it can push more Polygons than the GC, but with how many effects turned on. The PS2 originally was supposed to push around 66million polys. That figure now seems far fetched and a more realistic figure of around 20 million with effects turned on has now been quoted. GC has been quoted to push around 6-12 million polys. However from what I understand, the effects with these polys will overall produce much better graphics than the PS2. If anyone has answers out there then please help me. I'm confused.??????

The best thing about these two consoles is that they're both useing DVDs whereas the ps and N64 had different types of memory, this should be better for the Nintendo generation. Maybe alot cheaper
the games wil be released alot faster aswell, Movies DVDs get released months before videos, so it should hot things up a little

the gc will be more powerful than the ps2 but what's more important is that the games (on gc) will be generations ahead of anything ps2 can offer. just look at the shots of tekkan tag tournament and compare them to the zelda gc shots. the gc will rock the ps2 right off the face of the planet!!!
