Over the past few months, Tottenham have shown what they are capable of. They have played around 12 games, 9 in the premiership and 3 in the Worthington Cup. Of the 9 games played in the premiership, Tottenham have won 6, drawn 1 and lost 2. The Worthington Cup has seen Tottenham reach the semi-finals, where they will face Chelsea over 2 legs. They have not beaten Chelsea, home or away, for more than 10 years, a run of around 28 games, so this will prove to be a difficult task if Tottenham are to reach the Worthington Cup Final. The 3 wins that I am talking about, which has seen Tottenham reach the semis are the 4-0 at Tranmere, the 2-1 win at Fulham and the recent 6-0 demolition over Bolton, which saw Les Ferdinand become the first Tottenham player to score a hat trick this season.
Tottenham's 6 premiership wins have come against Derby County, Newcastle, Middlesbrough, West Ham, Bolton and Fulham. The draw was at home to Arsenal, which saw Poyet score in the last minute to earn Spurs the draw, and the losses were against Leeds, a game where Tottenham conceded 2 sloppy goals, and Charlton. So basically, Tottenham have won 9, drawn 1 and lost 2 in their last 12 games, which is probably the best form currently, in all competitions, of teams from the premiership.
Tottenham's first game (of the 12) was against Tranmere in the 3rd round of the Worthington Cup. Tottenham won the game 4-0 with goals from Sheringham, Anderton, Poyet and Rebrov. It was a very convincing win for Spurs and it set them on their way to 4 consecutive wins in all competitions.
Their second game was one which saw Poyet score an amazing goal, right at the end, to finish off Derby and end the game 3-1 in Tottenham's favour. Spurs's other goals came from Ferdinand and Ziege, with Ravenelli getting Derby's only goal.
The third game was another win away from home and it was again up north, (The first win came against Sunderland earlier in the season). This time it was against Newcastle and 2 early goals were enough to see Spurs win the game 2-0. The goals came from Poyet and an own goal by Speed.
The fourth game was one that saw Tottenham's striking old guns score a goal each to see of Middlesbrough in a 2-1 win. Ferdinand and Sheringham each scored and Boksic scored Middlesbroughs. Tottenham were 1-0 down but they turned the game around in the second half.
The fifth game saw Tottenham's winning streak come to an end as they surrendered a 1-0 lead away to Leeds, to lose the game 2-1. Tottenham's goal was scored by Poyet, but 2 Leeds goals, that could easily have been prevented, by Harte and Kewell won Leeds all 3 points and saw Tottenham go home with nothing.
Tottenham had another tough game, for their sixth, as it was a home tie against Arsenal, our London rivals. This game saw the return of Sol Campbell to White Hart Lane, and he did not get a good reception at all. Arsenal took the lead through Pires, late on in the game, only for Poyet to score a dramatic last minute equaliser.
Another London derby game was the seventh and it was away to West Ham. The only goal of the game was scored by Ferdinand, although West Ham had a few chances themselves and Tottenham hit the woodwork 3 times.
The 4th round of the Worthington Cup was next as Tottenham were away to Fulham in the eighth game. This game saw Rebrov score the opening goal for Tottenham, only for Hayles to score an equaliser just before half time. It was left late for Spurs, but a Simon Davies goal 5 minutes from the end, saw Tottenham defeat Fulham and get into the quarterfinals of the cup.
A tough game against Bolton was next, and Tottenham were back at White Hart Lane. Bolton took the lead through Ricketts in the first half, and that was the only game of that half. But, fortunately for Tottenham, a change that saw Ferdinand come on, paid off because within 3 minutes of the second half, Tottenham were 2-1 up. A goal from Poyet, setup by Ferdinand, and a goal by the man himself, saw Tottenham take the lead. The lead didn't last too long as Wallace scored for Bolton, only for Sheringham to score with about 7 minutes left of the game. Tottenham won the game 3-2.
The tenth game saw Tottenham lose only their second game in 10. This time it was away to Charlton and they deserved their win. Charlton were 3-0 up at one point and a Poyet goal, right near the end, wasn't enough to spoil Charlton's day.
The next game saw Tottenham meet Bolton at White Hart Lane for the second time in just over a week. This time, Bolton rested a few key players, where as Tottenham didn't and so obviously, Spurs ran out clear winners, destroying Bolton 6-0. Ferdinand scored a 9-minute hat trick and the other goals were from Davies, Iversen and an own goal by Barness.
Tottenham's latest game was played yesterday and it was a game that made it a very good week for the club. They beat Fulham 4-0 at White Hart Lane, which meant they had scored 10 goals in their last 2 games, and also, Ferdinand became the player to score the Premiership's 10,000th goal. Anderton, Davies and Rebrov were the other scores for Spurs.
So, Tottenham for the Premiership Title??? Probably not, but they will still finish in a good position to qualify for Europe this season.

They have improved dramaticly but not enough to win the league.
I doubt that they will make Europe because I cant see manu,arsenal,leeds,liverpool,newcastle or chelsea finishing behind them this year.
And after recent defeats against ipswich and charlton I think maybe villa could sneak above them.But it will be close.

Yeah, but I still think they'll do better than 7th!! How about....5th?? Or if their lucky, 4th?
Who still thinks Spur will win the league??? That wasn't a very good performance losing to Ipswich, but i'm sure they'll bounce back next time! I still don't think that Spurs will win the league, but they still have a good chance of finnishing 3rd now. Even 4th will get the a Champions League spot now!! Or does that start next season??
Sorry, to bring you back to earth, but Spurs do not have a bigger enough squad. Quality needs to be in reserves as well. Just like Leeds last season. Because of Injury their first half of the season was rubbish, but as all the quality players came back so the team rose up the league table.
If they had that quality in depth they could of won the league!

I am a Man United fan (incas you didn't know) and I don't think Spurs quite have what it takes to win the Premiership. I'm also still unsure as to wether United will make the top 2!
Spurs definitley have the potential to reach 3rd, maybe even 2nd, but I just don't see them winning it. There's no way in my view that they'll miss out on European football and a top 5 finnish this season. Thay've done extremely well this season and may even take the Worthington Cup back to White Hart Lane.
They've also proven that their defence is good enough (maybe even better!!) without Sol Campbell. Dean Richards is a great signing and can only get better! I really wonder why United never bothered to make a move for him?? He'd definitley be better than Blanc, although he is improving slightly.
With on form strikers like Sherringham and Ferdinand, Sergei Rebrov will stay unhappy, and could make a huge mistake by leaving! What if Spurs were to win the league, or did make Champion's League football, and Rebrov had gone elsewhere, where he may still find his only place is on the bench. If Spurs do get that far then they'd need more experienced players in Europe, just like Rebrov!
I do think they will need more players with European experience to help them push for a long awaited European trophy! I just don't see their relativly young defenders/midfielders being able to cope aswell with out the experience to guide them.
But good luck to Spurs with their sights on Europe!!

I dont Believe Liverpool can win it anymore after the sale of Fowler. Look at their strikeforce against Chelsea. Between Heskey and Litmanen they had no chances whatsoever on goal. They will only do well if Owen plays in near enough all thier games, but Owen's hamstring is prone to injury. They play a very defensive style of play, and I think the best way to beat them is to charge them right form the start. As agaisnt Chelsea, thier defense looked dodgy when they are chasing a game.
Why do I think Man Utd will win it?
Well, one man really. Ryan Giggs is back. He turned the game against M'boro and is always a threat with the ball. In our last few games which we have lost, we have had very poor performances down the left wing. Particulary from Fortune, who has never really done it for me. Without Giggs Silvestre had to do all the running down the wing and that left us open at the back.
Giggs is such a huge influence to the team, his mazy runs always lift the crowd and benefits the team, especially in europeon games. If we can keep him fit, then we will do well in the Premiership and Champions league.
I suppose i sound a bit hypocrital there, saying Liverpool Rely on Owen too much..and then going on to say Man Utd will win it because of Giggs return. well, erm...hmmmm. I'll stop there.
