I'm sure if you've been grabbed by the topic name, you are wondering what on earth i am yapping on about, but i have a serious point. Reading two previous topics, game longetivity and A.I, i came up with a serious point, games are going to become boring and people will be 'seen it, done it' at a certain point in the future. This would leave the computer industry in shock, and us, the players.

But obviously there would be a solution, and i have one.

You've heard of AI, and i'm sure you know what it means, but i think this is the next step in gaming. Imagine a game, with limitless endings, original gaming all the way through, never able to have the same route, always a new one. If the computer could actually think, and input its own decisions along with ours, we could create a entire new gaming industry with limitless oppurtunitys. People have always found games stressing when playing against a computer and knowing where and when it will move or perform a move. People have always enjoyed the second player option, usuing another human against/or with you makes the game even better. Well imagine the computer was like that, and gave you that feeling of REAL gaming!

I think this will be the next step, the computer that can think like no other one can. Not some crummy AI scipt from a game e.g Age of Empires, but the real intelligence, thats the next level...games that think...

Definately something WELL beyond the current abilities of games developers / hardware manufacturers, but without a doubt the one thing all companies are striving towards.

This was the point of my "The Future of Gaming - Longevity" post. The ultimate game will be limitless, without constraints. Something not currently acheiveable, but who's to say we can't move towards this?

It sounds absoloutely absurd, but then if you'd told somebody 100 years ago that we'd soon be able to talk to ANYONE on the planet instantly, they'd have laughed at you. If you'd said "I HAVE AN IDEA, I'M GONNA INVENT THIS THING CALLED A COMPUTER THAT RECORDS DATA AND SENDS IT ACROSS THE GLOBE TO ANOTHER COMPUTER" you'd probably have been locked away.

Stranger things have happened, the next step up in gaming isn't THAT unbeleiveable.
