This has to be one of the most complicated and mind boggling games I’ve ever come across and I still haven’t fully got to grips with it, time travelling, changing the past, Fate, the parallel world theory and the whole space time continuum *scratches head* defiantly one for the mature gamer but this also happens to be one superb gaming experience. Just to get people who haven’t played this game up to speed you play as Eike, a person who is stabbed and given the chance to travel back in time to prevent his own death, harder than it sounds. As you probably know this game has more than one ending, in fact it has SIX very different possible endings.
I came across a spider diagram in one of my Playstation magazines that briefly explained how to see all these but it had the words “spoiler alert” written all over it and basically spoiled it all leaving little reason to actually go away and do it, I did it anyway but came across two massive errors on the diagram which were quite misleading. While trying to see everything in this complex title I wrote down some notes as I went along, I later adapted it into a simple walkthrough incase I ever want to go through it again and thought it may interest others with this title. There’s a probably similar things on the Internet but I can guarantee they won’t be as simplified and well thought out as this and more importantly won’t hide all the surprises and spoilers.
I’m assuming you’ve already played through it once so I’ll take it from there.
Choose continue from the menu and load chapter 5.
During this chapter Margaret will say you remind her of someone and you will be given the chance to tell her she may be your ancestor, Tell her she IS your ancestor and play chapters 6,7+8 from there onwards.
Chapter 8
A) After the phone call you receive from Hugo head to the square, after the cut scene travel back to 1980 written in the time travelling device, as “I know I’ve seen Homunculus here” You’ll find yourself at the square in a nasty blizzard, head directly south down the stairs eventually leading to a small park. Here you’ll find Homunculus sitting under a tree. Travel back to the present and visit the fortuneteller BUT you must avoid the square otherwise you won’t get this ending, just go around it. The fortuneteller can be found at the “former Alchemist’s house”. Then return to the square to get ending A. (Circle will skip both cut scenes and credits)
B1) Choose continue from the menu screen and load chapter 8. Like before after the phone call from Hugo go to the square but this time go directly to the Fortune Teller, afterwards return to the Square to get Ending B1.
B2) Choose continue from the menu screen and load chapter 8, After meeting Hugo in the square travel back to 1980 or “I know I’ve seen homunculus here” and find him in the small park as before. Now travel back to the present and return to the square to get ending B2.
C) Load Chapter 8 but this time after going to the square travel back to 1584 and go to Dr Wagner’s lab, after the cut scene return to the present and head to the square to get ending C.
D) Getting a bit more complicated now, Choose continue from the menu screen and load chapter 5. When you visit Margarete, DON’T tell her that she may be your ancestor. It’s important that you play through chapter’s 6+7 to follow this up. During Chapter 8 you will now have the chance to ask Dana to return to the present, It doesn’t matter what you say as long as afterwards you go directly to Dr Wagner’s laboratory and give him the red stone, Leave the house and travel to “ten days from the experiment” and you’ll find the time machine. Travel back to the present to meet Hugo in the Square then travel to 1584 and return to Dr Wagner’s laboratory, burn his notes and return to the present to get ending D.
E) Following on from D where you tell Margaret nothing in chapter 5 choose continue and load chapter 8. Ask Dana to return to the present with you, after she gives you the philosopher’s stone (as seen in Harry Potter) she’ll wonder off to think about it, In the mean time travel to the present and go to the café, you’ll find a note on the doorstep addressed to Dana, After you’ve obtained it travel back to 1584 and find Dana (north side of the city hall) Bring her back to the present.
Return to 1584 and give Dr Wagner the red stone (walk up to him and press X) then walk out of the house, you’ll now have the option to travel to “ten days from the experiment”. Go back to the alchemist’s house and down into Dr Wagner’s Lab, Margaret will be there. Travel back to 2001 and return to the square. After the phone call go to the square to find Hugo with another hostage. Return to Dr Wagner’s lab in 1584 and bring Margaret to the present to get ending E.
EXTRA GAME
When you’ve finished all six endings you will now get to play the Extra game, It’s basically a one off chapter where the goal is to save Mrs Wagner, only this time round Eike knows exactly what’s going to happen and it all seems a bit familiar. To play the extra chapter start a new game and answer “am I dead again” and “oh Homunculus” when you first meet Homunculus. I won’t spoil anything here as I found this the most interesting part of the whole game but wait even this has two possible endings.
1) Follow Margarete to her home.
2) Travel back to your own time without following Margarete.
What is it with Konami and multiple endings? Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid had multiple endings but can’t say I’m a big fan of the 6 endings here, I’d prefer it if they pieced it all together to make it last a bit longer, oh well it’s still pretty fantastic and before you call me a looney for writing all this I just thought it was a good piece to contribute to the forum with (i hope) Here’s some other stuff I found in the game, enjoy
OTHER STUFF
The egg clock which Oleg (the film director) can pay off your bar tab in 1908
To save Miriam just attempt it twice, this will allow you
to see a different cut scene later on.
Complete the game once to get Trailer 1, complete it three times to get trailer 2 (must be different endings)
Finish the extra game to get trailer 3.
Menu theme becomes a lot more cheerful as you unlock the endings.
Ask the old man in the square to plant either flowers or statues to get a different environment in 2001.
Get the kitten from Mr Eckart and give it to the little girl.
and i have to say i am somewhat disappointed....
each chapter is just soo short....
more a semi interactive movie than an actual game...
i hate how when you want to retry a failed mission you can't skip the copious amounts of blurb....
anyway i will perservere and see how i find it by the end
This game scared the bejeebers out of me and was too afraid to play it.
ISS Pro Evolution 2
This is the best footy game ever. The end.... full stop.... thankyou.

> thats a joke...honestly.....besides i'm getting Pro evo for x-mas and mgs 2 when
> it comes out.
You'll have to get one more, by the time MGS2 is released here you will be blackened toast. If you have any Konami games then just review them, as long as i can read them and see that you have honestly played it.
