the gamecube will not be as popular as the ps2, because it is aimed towards young children but it comes out after xmas when parents will have spent lots of money on their children and therefore won't be prepared to buy it. the controller looks as though it could give one arthritis, due to the awkward positioning of the d-pad, this will make it hard for children to use it and they will soon become bored of not being able to reach the buttons in order to stop themselves getting killed. the gamecube has specs that are only just better than the ps2, apart from graphics where it is worse and looks where it is just poor, but the games won't take advantage of the graphics. it will end up as the N64 did with games that end up having cartoony graphics which aren't realistic.

Console gaming is becoming more and more popular all the time.

In the past it was only possible for perhaps 1-2 companies to dominate the market.

But Console gaming is now much more popular with all sorts of age ranges.

This leads me to believe that all 3 consoles will be able to live healthy and prosperous lives. And no premature deaths, like the DC!

As for the GC haters in here, you are basing your views on very stupid
ideas.

GC will do good as the Japanese and Americans loved the N64. The N64 failed pretty much over here but Nintendo did well in Japan and America. Nintendo are well established and release fun and orginal games. X-Box will also be a success as its the first console to be imported into Japan, because all the other consoles are made in Japan. Japanese people are actually liking the X-Box because of Dead Or Alive 3 which is an X-Box exclusive. All 3 consoles will do well. PS2 has already got a massive user base already and X-Box and GC are doing very well. Great games are available on each console with mainy more to come. I have pre-ordered my X-Box and will hopefully get a GC sometime this year aswell.

Gamecube is out in April, just about 2 weeks away from the Xbox. Its killer ap is actually Rogue Leader, believe me, I've played it. Pikmin is also fantastic and very Japanese.

No, I think the Xbox will have a harder time of it than the Gamecube, but the PS2 will continue to do well simply because of the installed userbase.

Thats like one of the main reasons why the xbox could flop when it launches next year at £300 while Ps2 and GC are at £199.99 but GC wont be there for a few months I reckon it may come on late spring maybe even in summer.

Since most people can only buy two out of the three or one only this time they firm with the worst supply of consoles will loose out in Europe.

So if Gc will be out in Europe about three months after the xbox it will loose a lot of profit. And the xbox has very tough competition against the Ps2 which is £100 less.

So I think that the GC will be a flop. Plus Resi4 the killer app for the Gc looks very far off for European/Uk gamers so by the time it comes out Resi fans who decide to get the console when the game comes out will be at gain as the price will have dropped by then. My advise for those getting the GC for the Resi games is to get it when the games actually come out.

The Gamecube will do well, mainly because Nintendo has now got the nack of advertising. Will it do well against the PS2? Well, that's a completely different questions.

For that, you need to ask whether you believe that two or more consoles can sell side by side in the games market. For all the petty bickering that goes on in these forums, yes they can and will. The Gamecube is not actually aiming at the younger market ONLY this time, it has a wide range of games including the excellent Rogue Leader (better than Starfighter, but then that's not difficult.)

Given the age of people who preferred the original Star Wars to the new one, it seems that they made the right choice and I only hope Sony can get Lucasarts to make a New Hope style game. Why? Well the best thing for the games market is competition, it keeps the companies on their toes and therefore the quality higher.

The PS2 has lots of exciting games out now and after Christmas, but don't dismiss the Gamecube just because you can't afford both consoles and are worried about the choice you made.
