The Springfeild clan have become the world's most fictional family but their greatness on the box has not been matched up for on the computer games screen. You just have to check out Simpsons Wrestling for an example of the degrading turkeys the family have been subjected to. However, Simpsons Road Rage promises to change all this. It promises wide appeal and sharp wit of the cartoon coupled with strong gaming foundations.
The story was written by the Simpsons creator, Matt Groening and it goes a little something like this ; Millionaire Mr Burns out out to make even more cash. This time he's bought the Springfeild public transport services and has hiked up the prices a bit. Of course, The Springfeild residents aren't going to stand for it, and thus take to the streets, where a little bit of the old "Road Rage" ensues. With so much traffic around people are finding it hard to get about, and this is where you come in. You have to climb into taxi (each character has a special one) and give people lifts to where they want to go.
So you go ahead and think Crazy Taxi all over again, but with the Simpsons in it, which could be constucted as lazy, but as it is set in Springfeild, with all your favourite TV stars then this is not as "lazy" as it looks and seems.
Simpsons Road Rage features more than 25 of the residents that you know in Springfeild, and plenty of unique vehicles for you to drive about in. The vehicles all have different ratings for jump, power-slide and fast start abilities, much the same as the yellow cabs from Crazy Taxi. But it is not all Crazy Taxi like. Road Rage has added many new things, like a Mission Mode. Here you have to help different characters about. For instance, in one mission, you have to help Homer skip work and get to a baseball game. When Mr Burns catches on though, Homer has to get back to the Power Plant as fast as he can before he gets caught.
It's all this typical Simpsons madness, sat alongside fast-paced, action-packed and comical gameplay that should ensure that Road Rage is the first truley great Simpsons game.
