My 2 year subscription of ESET Smart Security 4 (which I bought from Freeola) is due to come to an end in a couple of weeks.I have an unused boxed retail version of this software (originally bought for another PC but never used). Is it possible to renew my subscription for another year using this or would I need to uninstall my current application and then reinstall and then re-register using the CD version? I have contacted ESET customer support and they advised me to contact the reseller I bought my current version from. Not sure why this is but as it wasn't important (and I thought you guys may have a load of support tickets to deal with following the email outage) I thought I'd post it on here.

Thanks

Perhaps because Freeola are only 'resellers' and will not renew your licence automatically.....buy from Freeola, re-licence yourself. It's in your 'contract' with them :¬)

Thanks for the help guys.I'll try entering the username and password from the CD version if that doesn't work I'll just do a fresh install with the CD.

As far as I know, as long as the boxed version of the software is the same as the version you bought off us (i.e. version 4) and for the same number of computers, then the boxed version should contain a username and password, which you can use to renew your currently installed Eset software. The worst that will happen is it won't validate, in which case you will have to uninstall and reinstall from the CD.

Hi pete_21,
All sounds a bit strange (your customer support reply).

Freeola may be able to advise/send key but failing that I'm guessing the easiest way forward may be to remove the current install and start again with the unused one.
