PC:
Slightly more powerful then a PS2 but if you bought your PC about 18 Months, you basically dead meat. Because you are usually fixed up with:
An old Graphics card,
333mhz,
64-128MB ram and
a really slow modem.
Slightly unreliable if you are an enthusiastic gamer because if you want to play a strategy game like empire earth you will need atleats 16MB Graphics card. If you want to play Operation Flashpoint you need atleast 400mhz. So your games are slightly limited.
But if you have a PS2:
You are fixed with a system that doesn't out date for atleast four years, which can be even longer like the PS1 7 years after its realese it is still going strong. Although you have to be a strong beleiver in the console wars to have a 'religous' taste in it.
Your graphics are amazing, you are favoured if you have this console because it is next-gen. The games are excellent, take GTA3 if you don't like the PS2 then you will love this game cause it is one of those games you have to love.
So basically there are 2 points i am trying to make:
PS2 are more reliable than PC's and
If you hate the PS2 (which techniccaly is impossible), you can't hate its games.
Thanks for reading Quazimodo!
Soz about spelling.
It's an AMD K7 1.4Ghz with a geforce 2 GTS and 512mb of super fast DDR ram
I prefere a console for racing, fighting and 3rd person shooters
but i prefere the pc for FPS and stragy games also it's got multi-player online or on a lan although consoles are finally catching up
I aint gonna go into all that PC vs console crap, but it seems to me that with every new generation of Consoles, they get closer and closer to a PC.
As for your PS2 lasting 4 years...well. President of Sony has already indicated there is a chance of bringing out PS3 in 2003.
My PC is 4 years old...still works fine. Dont use it for games mind...I think 4 years is amazing for a PC...and i have only ever upgraded the Memory.
I'm getting a new PC on Thursday. AMD 1800+ xp. 512MB Ram, 64MB graphics,Dolby digital 5.1 speaker system.
I'm sure this will last me another 4 years. I'm not sure what you need to run the latest PC games, but are developers making games that require anything faster than 1ghz?
PC sales are slowing down, So hopefully this will result in developers not making games that require a top of the range PC.
Which do I use most? My PS2.
Why? I just find it better. Not saying PS2 the better machine, just that I find it better for games. No boot time, no major bugs in games (goes for all consoles, not just PS2), no driver problems, no need to check system specs, no need to install extra drivers, and no tinkering required - just stick a game in and away you go.
You get a game for your PC, you have to install it... you may have to install the latest DirectX drivers first... etc. Consoles are just better for games, because that's what they're designed for. I admit that FPS games on PC are better because you can use the mouse, which is more accurate than a joypad - but there's no reason at all that developers can't include those options on the new consoles - so far they've just been lazy in my opinion, with few PS2 FPS games having USB mouse support. I think that will change though, simply because it has to.
> 333 mhz? for a PC that is a bit low aint it? mine is 1.7ghz which is a 1000+
> higher then a PS2
Yeh my point is that:
Games are more reliable and stuff, not about the ever upgradable PC!
