Congratulations to Canvey Island for beating league opposition in Northampton, and now have a clash against Div. 1 leaders Burnley in a tie worth a lot to the club financially and also to their profile.
dagenham and Redbridge could also face a big match if they can win their home replay against Exeter. Dagenham almost caused a huge upset last season by holding Charlton at the Valley, and forcing extra time at Victoria road. They could face off-form Ipswich and the abundance of experience in Mark Stein and Ken Charlery means that they'll be no pushover.
Thats the beauty of the FA cup. It gives small clubs a shot at lucrative matches as well as glory. I hope both teams do well because it will help the smaller clubs, and the further they progress, the more money it will mean for grass roots football.
How many people watch live football on digital television? How many of those watch the conference football broadcast on sky sorts news? There aren't that many because people assume that the quality of football is lesser. There is a lot of skilled players in the lower leagues, and there are many entertaining matches.
Also, did you know Canvey Island have 2 players from Sky One' Dream Team. Is that why they're doing so well?? The great defender Peter Smith is one, and promising goalkeeper Ash Harrison is the other. But these 2 are usually in the Harchester United reserves anyway. If you've never seen or heard of 'Dream Team' on Sky One, then you won't have a clue what i'm on abou! Man Utd, Canvey Island, Sky One and FA Cup are the only things you'll understand.
Bring it on.
