I can't believe how many great gaming assets are set to release in the year 2002. We all thought this year and the previous were good, well 2002 is going to be a number the whole world's going to remember.

Firstly, PS2 has a number of games due for release that have never been seen on the console before.

MGS2:Sons Of Liberty - Feb 2002
The game every PS2 owner wants, and most are going to get! Solid Snake is back with a vengeance, but with so much realism to make all your emotions leap into action. the storyline is fantastic as well as the gameplay and graphics, but there's so many improvements made to leave us in total shell-shock. The AI has massively improved as guards have special military tactics, can have bullet-proof material and everything around you affects what happens next in the game. All the usual bosses are back with some pretty new, feisty ones always ready for a good fight. MGS2 is a undescribable game. It's one of those games that makes you want as a movie. The action is intense, steep and endless, but be careful you've got a whole different adventure ahead of you, and in this case get ready for addiction to set in. This is a game no-one should miss!

Virtual Fighter 4 - March 2002
Sega's highly popular beat-em-up is making its way over to the PS2 for great effect. PS2's potential is highly recognisable and with this VF4 has managed a game that is visually astonishing. The action looks truly fantastic and there are continuous amounts of battle arenas. Prepare for a Tag Mode along with Story and Survival, but with such a future release...who know what new features the creators have planned? This reincarnation is one to quench Tekken's reputation...or is it?

Tekken 4 - Jan 2002
Yes, Tekken is back in true 'king of iron fist' style, this time it's sure to be a real knock out. Namco had tough competition from DOA2 on the PS2 release, mainly because DOA2 had fast-paced action with many different interactive surroundings. Tekken 4 improves on this, bringing fast-paced, hardcore action to the beat-em-up scene. All the usual arcade style scenery has also returned and are much more interactive. You can fall from level to level, background to background, damaging your unlucky opponent. Loads of characters are at your dispense, which means lots more movie scenes and storylines. There's sure to be new modes featured in this future title, so don't give up on Tekken until you've played this!

Stuntman - March 2002
This game boasts as well as bringing a different genre to the driving scene. You play a stuntman trying to earn cash by delivering a number of stunts at different locations, for different people. Mainly these stunts are to be shot in a future film so you really have to try your best to make it look as essential as possible. This is were the game displays real PS2 potential. The graphics are crystal, with detailed cars and surroundings, and the crash scenes are absolutely fantastic. Every bit of your car can be damaged, and any stunt can be performed. This is definitely one to save for, it brings a whole enhanced level to the driving genre and with graphicas better than GT3...you just can't go wrong!

Timesplitters 2 - May 2002
The FPS that was extremely well received on the PS2's launch is set to release a sequel, which improves on its success. Timesplitters was fun and hugely addictive, now its sequel has all the same assets, but with many new improvements. The action is faster and there are lots more levels to roam about along with more funny-looking characters. The graphics have been topped with lushous backgrounds, and there are new weapons available for much more action. Timesplitters 2 looks and sounds great - another one not to be missed.

ICO - Feb 2002
Now, most of us think guns, explosions and fighting makes a great game, but ICO makes a different exception. It's like a living fairytale and at times it looks so good, you want to hug the screen. There are many atmospheric levels to explore whilst searching for your long lost damsel in distress. You'll come across occassional fighting sequences, but with so much emotion to the game you still have that little bit left in you to lash out at your disruptive villain. ICO is going to be huge, and is set to set the standard for RPG's, so FF10 better watch out!

PS2 has a whole string of titles to keep it above the rest like Driver 3, The Matrix, Dead to Rights, Headhunter, Onimusha 2, Max Payne, Black and White, Final Fantasy X AND XI, Resident Evil 4, Tenchu 3, the Thing, State of Emergency, Deus Ex, Colin McRae 3, Maximo, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, MOH Frontline, MOH Fighter Command, Soldier of Fortune Gold...and the list goes on.

GameCube is set to rock our button-bashing hobbies as it is set for a March 2002 release (currently available in the US and Japan). With it comes internet capabilities and many new features; you can play it with the GBA. Four control sockets are available as a huge multiplayer archive, and even still, multi-taps are available. It's such a small little box with so many features. It's the one everyone's talking about and most hyped up for as such games like, Super Smash Bros Melee, Wave Race, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin and Star Fox Adventures are making an entrance with it. GameCube is going to be a huge hit when it arrives, Nintendo's reputation is soon to be replenished.

Xbox is Microsoft's new console, and everywhere Microsoft's mentioned, Bill Gates suddenly figures in our minds. Well, as it is Microsoft's first ever console, many aren't too sure about it. I can tell you that it's going to be another huge hit, there's Dead or Alive 3 coming which looks stunning, Halo (brilliant), Oddworld:Munch's Oddyssey and many more titles that look fantastic. The Xbox is set to be the most powerful console ever developed, so that by itself sets Microsoft's record. There's sure to be an online facility, just to keep up the pace, and also DVD, but since it's Microsoft we never know what new trick they've got up their sleeves to shock us again. Even though it's a debut we truly can't miss out!

So there you have it...2002, we cannot simply no the possibilities. GameCube, Xbox, and GAMES, GAMES, GAMES!!! We can't wait!

The Plan For Sunday is to Do the 3 Peaks, Great Hill, Winter Hill & Darwen Tower, total distance is approx 24miles and 4hrs riding time. We did this a couple of times last year and its a cracking ride. There are plenty of "Get outs" on the way, so you don't have to do the full distance if you dont want.

We are planning on Meeting a little earlier !!.

Meet at Hare and Hounds, Abbey Village at 8am, for at 8am start, should be back by 12ish. Cheers Si

Please e-mail Psye / simon if you are coming.
