I used to have a sister, she died when she was very young. I was thinking about her today and I thought I’d try and honour how I feel with some words. It’s not very good but it’s the best I can really do, so, sorry sis.

------------------

You were my big sister
But you were always so small
Whilst you’re the one who left us
It was up to me to grow tall
And how I waste my life away
When you had no life at all
But if you were still with us
Upon me you could fall

There’s been no photo of your face
But I know just how you’d look
Your precious smile your shining eyes
Captured by no picture we had took
And whilst I miss what you might say
When I may have told you of my dreams
You’d have carried yourself stronger than I could have
Or at least that’s like how it seems

I know you’d tell me to keep going
Because I know you’d have been so strong
I saw it when I saw your flowers growing
I hadn’t known you very long
And I would have been there for you
On every single rainy day
I know you’d not needed any help
But by your side I’d always stay

You were my sister
And I miss you
I can’t imagine the trouble we’d have made
The little things we’d had gone through
And so I try to paint a picture of your face
And when it’s dark I hear your voice
And I pray that there’s a heaven for you
It’s not like you had a choice

So little life you really had
So little choice you really took
And I guess that’s all the life you had
But to the sky I pray and look
I would have loved to meet your friends
I would have loved to hear you talk
And we could have travelled round together
Spoke of dreams as we would walk

You were my sister
And I’d always love you
No matter what person you’d have been
I know I’d always have been true
So now you’re gone and we can’t see
What sort of life you may had led
Maybe we’ll meet again some day
If there’s a heaven when I’m dead
