Obviously, we already know that the GBA is gonna have more capabilities, thus better gadgets and maybe MORE gadgets than the hugely successful GBC.
But what good are they? Will they be popular? How will they work and how can they be used?
The confirmed GBA camera will kick butt as it is in colour and can capture and display 32,000 colours and something like 30 frames in a second or two, which is great.
There's also the four-way link cable for extra players, which is a must have if you want to transfer data between two or more GBAs because the GBA lacks the ownership of the fabled infrared port. This is a real bummer for me because I have PD for the GBC and Donkey Kong Country at the minute, and they both use the infrared port for transmitting stuff between each other.
And then, there's that wierd light shield thing. Who in their right mind would get one of them? Why would you want to shield the light? It's hard enough to see the picture.
And what about the GC link-up? How exactly would that work and, what could it be used for. If you ask me, it's a bit of a waste of time, except for that thing on KIrby where you fall into the GBA. That's basicly the only useful thing you can do with it. All the other ideas, like inventory screens on it and stuff, aren't likely to be popular with gamers. After all these years of pressing start and looking at the telly to see your inventory, that's what we're used to and that, therefore, is what we will expect by instinct when playing games like Perfect Dark. Also, you would access the inventory on the GBA, and while you're looking at that screen, you're getting your brains blown out on the other screen while you're not looking if you've got any!
Yes, it does sound like this topic is thinking negatively about GBAs peripgerals, but that wasn't my intention. The gadgets for GC and GBA will be terrific and have great effects when used properly, unlike the GCs games, so don't go taking this the wrong way.
