My Grandad who is nearly 70 I think, infact he's over 70 has even played video games, I used to play them with him all the time, so what has my Grandad got to do with video games, well nothing really. But it shows you that anyone can play video games.
Still don't believe me, well in the world of video games you can do anything, you can go to mars and blast some aliens, you can drive a car around a fast and furious track, you can commit crimes and steal cars, you can go on an epic journey through time and space. With video games there is no limits, well okay so there are a few things that haven't been done in a game but there not many things that haven't.
Personally I couldn't live without video games, as they always provide great fun no matter what frame of mind you are in. You could take all of your anger out an some big mush on a beat em up, you could go around shooting people thinking they were your arch enemy, you could get enthralled in an adventure upon the piratey seven seas, its entirely up to you.
Games provide entertainment that other media can't there replay value for a start, now once you have watched a film that its you’ve seen that film and it won't change but once you have played a game, its never the same, okay so the story maybe the same but you could play one part of the game differently, for example you could play a footie game and give the computer a good thrashing one time but get beat the next time, its always different and never quite the same.
This gives a good edge to video games and makes them a sound investment; at around £40 you got alot more value than you would from paying £20 for the latest film on DVD.
And the games industry provides good entertainment also, I like to see who is doing well in the games world, i.e. who is winning the next gen-console race, or which games are coming out for which console, or which games have been scrapped or which company has bought the rights to which game.
Its good to see a game you really want coming out for the console you own, but its not nice seeing a game you want which has been dropped from the console you own. But still that’s just life these things happen.
Another great thing about games is the fact that you can cheat, now this may seem strange but its nice to put a cheat in and just hack your way through a game with out even trying hard. Games with stories are also great, watching the plot unfold, its just like a movie but you are the star, you play the lead and its up to you to get the girl, or to save the world. The game is in your hands, can you handle it. I know I certainly can.
Now who loves to whip their mate’s backside at FIFA, or at Unreal I certainly do. I love showing people how to do it when it comes to video games. There's is no better experience than playing head to head with your friends and whipping their a*se to the ground.
But its not only head t head that fun, co-operation is also a nice thing, you can team up with your buds and help each other, you can play on the same footy side, you can be your mates side kick on a journey through dark damp dungeons, or just basically sit their and shout 'behind you', 'brake', no left left', 'shoot man shoot', that’s really annoying isn't it when your mates tell you how to play a game, but hand up who does it to there mates, I know I do.
But there is an infinite possibility out there when it comes to games, its just down to the game designers to open their minds and put some imagination into a game.
GAMES ARE THE BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD!
that'd be cool.
"now I just gotta press this button. Wait.... gotta get my finger in the right place then...... ooh! missed! where's my glasses? what? no! you see, in my day......."
