Out of interest, anyone here getting a PS2 on day 1 (I'm certainly not a that price). Sony are only supplying 100,000 to the UK anyway, and expect shortage... but not due to popularity. You see, Sony is making the PS2 for Japan- where it is atill scarce because of its uses as a DVD player, America- which will have one of the highest demands, AND Europe. In addition, the PSone is being made, meaning that production space is being wasted.
I don't expect the PS2 to take off untill at least after Xmas- when the console is actually on the shelves and not mail order only. Even then, with the price at £300, and the period after Xmas being a slow selling period for everything-inc games- don't expect the PS2 to storm the country the way Sony claims. Many can simply not afford it.

I think this will be a heavy punch in the stomach for Sony, as if what you say happens Sony will not exceed to expectations and will be worried. Hopefully (not for me though, I am not going to buy one) the price will drop quickly after that.
