So, news sites? Which do you use? Do you use Upwire.com? Basically, we want to know how you rate our news site and compare us to other news sites. Which are your favourites? Please let me know.

Thanks

I use the scrolling applet at Supanet, and, if I find an interesting headline in the Upwire email, I'll sometimes use Upwire to read the whole thing.

And the answer to the first question is SR and occasionally Gamespot, plus any of the huge amounts of mails that come in to my mailbox.

Planet Gamecube, and Cloudchaser, primarlily. Meka has the links.

I like using Upwire, because it's funny, it's you guys, and on rare occassions, I get to see into the future. That rules.

I use ign.com mainly for game videos if I want to see what a new game looks like (I have to wait for them to come off the premium service though as I don't subscribe). IGN are good because of the 'related stories' links, you can go pretty much as indepth into background as you need to. Plus they seem to be unerringly accurate in their reporting which is usually a good thing.

Gamerankings.com is another site with lots of links to developers if you want to know more about who's behind a game and how it is rated.

In the main though I usually start a search either from Google.com (e.g. type in PS3 and hit 'search') and Upwire also gives me some good stories to search for more information on if they interest me.

Most Google results usually lead back to IGN and Gamespot, Gamespot's strength lies more in its reviews than its news so I don't usually use it as a source.

In Upwire's favour they have a very good search engine, you just type in a word and you get the related news stories (typing in 'ps3' brings up 3 news related hits on Upwire and about 53,200 on Google, but Upwire's are directly related to the topic as it is a gaming site and therefore easier to search for relevant information).

If Upwire had links to outside sites for further information it would be a much more useful resource for me personally, but from SR's point of view I don't feel that it's necessary as SR aren't here to provide portal site in the first place.

What was the question again? :-)

I read the Financial Times.

Great articles in that.
