The original Forza was something special and luckily for us gamers Forza2 seems to contain everything and more that made Forza such and entertaining driving simulator.
Whether your looking for a driving game that you can just pick up and race or want something more that allows you to play around with the car settings and set up then Forza2 has it all.
Boasting over 300 cars, including the likes of Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini and Aston martin to name a few, and over 60 tracks and plenty events there is a lot to get your teeth into with this one.

Forza2 is similar to gran turismo – you start of with a cheap car, race to win money which you can use to buy upgrades and new cars to enter in more race events – this continues on until eventually you can afford some of the super cars and enter into the big money racing.
The game looks amazing in high definition and the replays are a joy to watch – the photo mode also allows you to take still images during the replays and save them to your Xbox 360 – there is also an option to upload them to the forza website where you can then save them onto your PC - A very useful feature that allows you to share images of your most impressive cars/crashes etc with your friends. In terms of audio the in game sound track and car sounds are equally impressive although a lot of the cars sound the same at times. You can also as usual play your own music using the Xbox 360 music player.

Where the game differs from gran turismo for me though is with vehicle damage – you can smash your car to bits, and in races this means you'll wreck the cars handling and overall performance. Miss judge your speed going into a turn and it's likely you'll smash into a wall and watch various bits of body work fall off and notice a big difference in how your car drives.

The game also features a very in depth customisation mode. Here you can upgrade the physical parts of your car and also apply paint and graphics to your cars body work.
In terms of part upgrades there is everything from the size of rims and tyres to bodykits, brakes, suspension kits, to the various individual engine parts and components. For those with some knowledge of cars you can also take this one step further and tune the car to your needs – playing around with various settings to make the car ride and handle the way you want.

The car paint mode is very impressive, using layers of images it is possible with a bit of time, effort and some artistic ability to create some very impressive images and paint work for your cars. These can then be used in both offline and online races. Pretty much any paint job imaginable is possible if you have the artistic skills and patience – I've seen some almost photo realistic images on cars used in the game. You can also save images to be used on other cars in the editor.
A new feature – the online auction house also allows you to sell your cars to other gamers for in game credit – of course the cars with the impressive paint jobs will sell for a lot of credits.

With the online auction house you can sell and buy cars to use in the career mode and online mode. Cars with better parts and paint jobs will cost more than the standard car but it is worth looking through to find a bargain or placing your unique paint job car up for sale to earn plenty of credits.

The online mode in Forza2 is also great fun – here 8 players can battle it out in each race. A word of warning though – play through a good bit of the single player game first so that you learn the tracks and also get a chance to buy and upgrade some decent cars to use in the online mode.
Racing against real opponents also provides different challenges – many will tune their cars to perfection to try beat you using car knowledge, others will rely purely on their driving skills, then there are some who will rely on smashing you off the track and hoping the damage they sustain will still let them beat you.
As with most 360 games you can communicate during the races using the headset – perfect for some friendly banter or to shout abuse as the reckless muppet that just totalled your Ferrari.

Forza2 is almost the perfect driving simulator – there are a few things that the game could have done with. A good tutorial about how to set up and tune the cars would help those with limited knowledge on cars. Also there is no in car view – something which plenty of gamers would have liked to have seen in the game. Also the tracks can get a bit too repetitive, would have been nice to see more tracks included or a track generator to let you create your own custom tracks.

This game is likely to provide you with many hours of entertainment. As your driving skills improve and you obtain better cars you'll be trying everything to shave precious milliseconds of your times to beat your friends times and collect a garage of impressive cars.

If you are a fan of driving games then this really is the best on offer. It looks great, drives great and there is so much to keep you interested. If driving gamers aren't your thing then maybe this isn't for you but it could well surprise you. A game you don't want to miss out on.
